I got pulled over, and got a TICKET! stupid state police officer! now,I am complaining I am the daughter of two cops and have a badge and card. And although I hardly get pulled over, when I do, I usually get a warning. this guy pulls me over- tells me I was going 77- on the Meadowbrook and I was in the left lane but I wasnt going 77... but i didnt complain. i pull out my license, he sees my detective card, asks whose it is- I told him it was my dads- he asks whereI am coming from- I said school- Im a teacher. He basically said he was just going to run my license to see if I am clean and I said fine and he comes back with a ticket!!! I dislike P.O. Clifford the State Police officer- then he speeds away and pulls someone else over! I was so happy that vacation finally has started and it has to start like this. I feel like pleading not guilty just for the he&& of it. I honestly dont think I was going 77.. I saw him parked ahead of me..
Anyway, enough of the bit%& fest....

kristi.......that s*cks........now as for venting I am with you, but I have had both cards and badges and I dont think they do anything with a state cop, they HATE all people......now as for perks...well I am a chef and do I give free food for other people who cook for a living....nope........and For someone to say because what they go through as a police Officer family member....all jobs have risks, i work with hot oil, and I can get burned, what makes that ANY different then someone else's job????? dont get me wrong yes it is a dangerous job but come on,
well said my man well said
by the way, kristi, you mentioned earlier that 'you are sure that if i had a badge, I wouldn't be posting saying that you deserved a ticket'
FYI -- my dad worked for the courts, so he had all of that stuff and offered to get me a badge and shield for when i was driving. I turned him down -- I'm not a cop, so I shouldn't get treated special when I don't deserve it.
Same thing with the handicap pass. I have access to several through family -- I don't use them, it's wrong.
Yes, perks exist. But there's a difference between a chef giving a family member a free cupcake, and a cop who gives away badges and shields to people so they can break the law and get away with it.
As for you, if you feel you were not speeding, I say fight. But to say 'if I had known I was getting a ticket, I would have whipped out my shield' is wrong IMO. If you weren't speeding fine. But, when you break the law, you need to pay up, perk or not. _____________________________________ Don, please get over it. I was only venting and it turned into a whole debate. You want to play the high and mighty, the 'I wear my angel wings and would never accept badges or shields because its wrong' then fine your choice.. I didnt ask for any opinions, I was venting and I certainly did not ask for yours. I am actually a little SICK of your responses toi my posts.
Everytime I vent on here, about ANYTHING you seem to have a negative comment. ITs like its something personal you have towards me.
Even with my MARRIAGE, you were questioning my decision, saying I wasnt holding up my MARRIAGE vows and I was giving up on a man who has 'minor' issues. Who do you think you are anyway? LIW god? Well you are NOT!
You even went as far as to send me an FM about my husband because you didnt want to get flamed. Well I am a little sick of it, IMO. Please leave me alone and feel free to vent somewhere else... And YES, I could have fmd you with this and not brought this out in the post but I am just VENTING IMO...

Was it really necessary to get this nasty about it? He was voicing an opinion as EVERYONE has a right do on this website. He was just posting his thoughts on it, can we not even do that anymore??

its the way he responds to certain posts. he feels he has the answers and opinions to just about everything and every topic. And after his comments about my marriage, I feel he went too far. I was venting yesterday and didnt ask for any opinions. Don needs to take it to the next level, as always which started this whole thing inthe first place. he sometimes need to just listen to people and not have to have an answer for everything.

Hey Im not saying he's perfect either, who is? Im sorry if you felt he got too personal with your marriage, but he hates to see marriages break up and he takes the vow thing VERY seriously. He is a very upfront, honest kind of person. I think everyone on this site knows that about him. But I can tell you that he has nothing against you personally.

I understand you defending him but he has to realize that some posts are just there to vent, not to debate. He has never responded to any of my other posts except when I was upset and venting. And each time, he questioned my actions and debated them. I still have that fm he sent me. I couldnt believe he had the nerve to question my committment to my marriage vows and how he believed I shouldnt have gotten married in the first place??Unless, Don is a professional counselor who has expertise on dealing with alcoholics and their behavior, he had no right to judge me in my shoes. And now I vent about getting a ticket and he goes into this whole thing about how I shouldnt have a badge/shield to begin with!!!!! I was not asking for a debate on that. If I was, by all means, debate away....

I have a badge from my dad (which I have never had to use), and he has made it crystal clear to me that although there is a courtesy, I could still get a ticket, and if the offense is pretty bad like drunk driving (not like I would do that anyway), there is really no way that you are getting off of that. I am sure that it happens, and some cops would let the person go, but I know more often than not it doesnt happen. This was actually addressed to some cops and that I know when they were given the badges to distribute. I know plenty of kids of cops who have broken the law and they do not get off scott free. I dont think its fair to assume that kids of cops get away with anything and everything. I would bet my last dollar that if someone did something other than a minor infraction, they would get a ticket and/or arrested, depending on what they did.

Re: ugh! driving home and was so happy until...
Wow, this thread has gotten kind of crazy, but I do have to say, I was a cook for a while. I worked back in the kitchen behind closed doors and even if my family were to come to eat, I'd have no way of knowing. I never left the kitchen. Nobody ever got free food or extra food on their plate. Every dish that left the kitchen was treated exactly the same. I've burnt myself plenty of times, gotten stitches from slicing myself with a knife, and even sprained my shoulder, because a lot of heavy lifting is involved, and I've never gotten anything for it. I don't think it's fair that people make assumptions about any job if they've never worked it before. Just like it wouldn't be fair for me to say something negative about police officers, because I'm not one, nor do I personally know any. You know the phrase: don't ASSUME...etc...you know the rest...

I respect your opinion as well as everyone elses, but saying that all jobs have risks and not taking what those risks are into consideration for each job is just ignorant. Every job has risks, sure, but the risks that a cook would face are nowhere near what some other people face in thier jobs. Would you go work as a cop on the streets of East New York and get shot at every night? Would you like to have people with HIV bleeding all over you every day? How about dealing with violent mentally ill people who want nothing more than to beat you senseless? Would you run into a burning building knowing full well that you may not make it out of there alive, and do this every time you showed up to work? What about teaching in a school that you know half the kids are armed and could shoot you because you reprimanded them?
Hmm suddenly the hot oil isnt looking to bad..

This is the craziest thing because I got pulled over two weeks ago,on the meadowbrook and by the same STATE TROOPER CLIFFORD!! OMG! I also am going to marry a cop,two brother in laws are cops and he asked me the same, where and blah,blah....do I have any tickets and if my license was suspended. I say no, and he came back with not one but TWO tickets! One for supposedly speeding coming off a ramp doing over 55 and I couldnt be going that fast since I was coming off a ramp. 2nd for not directional on changing my lane after coming off the ramp. That is the only one I was guilty of. Well, too bad for Clifford cause its being TAKEN CARE of!!!! How crazy is that??? Clifford needs to respect others PBA!
ETA:kdelace, make it a point to have someone take care of it. I did on my end. Do not pay!
im definately going to see what I can do.... that was my whole point of my thread. i wasnt going 77 miles an hour and he did the same thing to me!!! By the time I got back on the parkway, he had someone else pulled over. Is he a rookie looking for brownie points? is he trying to prove a point?? thats what makes me so mad is that i honestly wa snot going the speed he told me I was going. Id d you get the new ticket? its on computer paper like fax paper!
I got the two tickets and yes on like some kind of fax paper. All computerized and the one I got for speeding didnt make any sense. Its stated that I was doing speed excessive of 55 almost saying I was 55mph over speed limit. The he wrote, Pace as reason on how he knew I was speeding. PACE! ***? No Radar so even if I didnt know a cop who is helping me out in this situation, how did he know how fast I was going????? Whatever! I saw that this got into a huge thing on the board. All Im saying is that I wasnt disobeying the law and he choose me to pick on and disrespected my Fiance's PBA card. Just not right! I feel for you and hope it works out in your behalf.

Getting you on PACE is the easiest way to prove that you were speeding.
Think about it. Say the speed limit is 55MPH.
They take a picture of your licence plate... or identify you at point A on the highway.
Then they wait at point B down the highway for you to pass. If Point B is 5 miles away from point A... and it took you 5 minutes or less to go from point A to point B... guess what... you were speeding.
This is really big in Canada... and its starting to come to the states more and more.
