Ugh. Just found out my cousin did the same favors as me!

Ugh. Just found out my cousin did the same favors as me!

My cousin got married this past weekend and I didn't attend her wedding because we had already RSVP'd yes to my FH's friend's wedding. Anyway, I just found that she did the same favors I'm doing -- wine bottles. She did a Chardonnay and a Cabernet and I'm doing a Pinot Grigio and a Merlot (of a better wine) BUT... I'm only doing half bottles and she did full bottles.

She had a smaller (day) wedding than I did but still, we will have approximately 30 of the same guests....I can't change my favor now, I just finalized the order last week. I really can't afford much more... is there anything I can do to spruce up my favor? Should I do CD's or chocolates too or just not sweat it? I afraid I'm going to look cheap now...

Is it your problematic bms wedding???
I dont think your guests will think you are cheap at all!!!!
The only extra I MIGHT add is some chocolates maybe... and they wouldnt cost alot b/c they are so easy to do yourself

I wouldnt do anything extra... its not a competition and if your family is like mine, they wont mind the extra wine.

Yeah, don't get worried about it!

Awww...that sucks. But I wouldn't sweat it. People go to weddings to share in they day, not get a favor.

If you do decide to do something a little extra, then I think chocolates would be a nice complement. The lindt store has individually wrapped truffles that are yummy, and reasonably priced.

I wouldn't sweat it, but if you do it is really easy to get chocolates to add to the bottles.

I don't know if she did personalized labels... I will ask... but I did get them!

It's not the problematic BM btw....

What about a donation favor in addition to? Or maybe a wine charm.... I remembered that most of my family doesn't like chocolate (weirdos that they are) ...

I know you are freaking out right now but seriously dont fall into the trap!!! before you found out your cousin did the same favor werent these good enough/acceptable for you as is??? then that shouldn't change b/c of her. Dont go out of your way to out do her b/c then people will have something to say. Leave it as is. I really dont think people will talk about how you have the same favor as her.. and if they do .. they need a life!! they just got a wonderful night of great food and good music who cares if the favor is similar to the one they recieved at that point 3 months ago?
lol if she served filet mignon would you take it off the menu??

eta. In the big picture I think its better to save the extra money then go crazy trying to make your favor 'better' then hers. All weddings are basically the same thing.. its the couple that makes the evening special or unique not the favors

If your really bothered by it, then I would say, yes, add something to it. Maybe decorations (ribbons, organza bag, almonds, etc), or an add'l inexpensive favor (wine charm, wine stopper, etc).

Sorry to hear, I'd probably feel the same as you.

Exactly! I would find a different way to wrap it and let it go at that. You can go with a sheer fabric cut in circles with a really nice ribbon, or maybe wine bags of some sort. I'm sure the girls here can suggest other ideas if you need help.

My daughter gave half bottles of champagne, and I think they look nicer than the large bottles. I made really nice fabric circles for them and put the Jordon almonds in a little bunch in the center of the ribbon. I hope that makes sense. They came out beautiful.

You are having a larger wedding and therefore can not afford to do whole bottles, rightfully so. I think your favor is great and you shouldn't worry about it!

i don't think you should have to change your favor just because someone had the same as you!
i was at my friend's weddin gon saturday, and she had the same favor as me...3 lindt truffles in a box with a bow on top of it!
i'm guessing she had her favors picked out when i got married in april, but she didn't change it becasue it's a nice favor!!!
you dont' need to change your's at all - it's a thoughtful gesture, and you don't need the added expense of adding to it!
