UGH - Mom & Bach Party

Has anyone else's mother assumed they would be included in the bach party? Granted, my party isn't going to include strippers or anything but I still dont want her there and if she were to come, I would have to invite FMIL and I really don't want her there either.

So now my mom is mad and I'm mad at her for trying to make this about her! My mom has a really bad tendency to make EVERYTHING about her!

Vent over.

UGH - Mom & Bach Party

My mom asked and I simply told her it was just for my friends and bridal party. She was upset at first but got over it.

UGH - Mom & Bach Party

Maybe you could do something special with your mother and FML in place of them not going to your batch party if she really wants to be involved? Spa day or winery ? or a nice dinner? I believe the batch party shouldnt include older family members. But do whatever you want, its your one and only batchlorette party!

UGH - Mom & Bach Party

Not sure what your bach party is going to be so I dunno if this would work but what about letting your mom host a pre-party? Have everyone meet at her house and mingle and snack on hor'derves and cocktails until its time to get the real party started. Then the limo or whatever can pick everyone up there and move on to the next place. It will make your mom/FMIL feel involved without having them actually attend the festivities. Plus who doesnt love a little pre-game. We did this before my cousins bach party and my bach party and it worked out great both times.

I'm doing 2 separate bach parties. One will be just my bridal party, my mom and my FMIL (plus the best man's girlfriend because we're very close), and we'll be doing a nice dinner and go out for drinks afterward. Or we might do a winery tour.

the other will be just my maid of honor and some of my best girlfriends and we're going to AC for a weekend.

I'm doing this because my bridal party consists of my 4 sisters and my best friend, and my 4 sisters all have 2-5 children each, many of which are very young, so they can't do a fun weekend away. This way, everyone, including my mom and FMIL will be able to join in some fun.

Re: UGH - Mom & Bach Party

For mine I think my mom is going to come out to dinner but then just not join us afterwards... I don't know if that is an option for you at all, it depends what you are doing.

UGH - Mom & Bach Party

We are going to Spa Castle in Queens and then out to dinner - exactly what I wanted. My 2 cousin's from my dad's side will be there and my parents had a very bad divorce so I don't want to make them feel awkward. My mom isn't the easiest person to get along with and sometimes less is more with her.

UGH - Mom & Bach Party

FH sister is my bridesmaid but she only 14. We are going for fondue one night since his sister can't come to Atlantic City. I invited my mom and FMIL to that.
Maybe you could just invite her to do the dinner and not the spa?

UGH - Mom & Bach Party

My grandmother (my dad's mom) actually was the one to take my mom to a strip club for HER bachelorette party!!! As much as I just want it to be me and my friends, I think that my grandmother may have started a tradition that my mother expects to uphold. LOL

Re: UGH - Mom & Bach Party

My mother has no interest in my bach party. She said she would come to dinner with us to start and then go home. However, FMIL and his aunts want to be part of ALL of it...pole dancing class included. Not sure what I'm going to do yet as its still in the ideas phase and nothing has been finalized.

UGH - Mom & Bach Party

My mom thought she was invitedat first, but once I set her straight, she got over it. My mom is really great in that she is letting my wedding be MY wedding. She gives her opinion, but that's it. She does like to bust my chops about the Bach party still though lol!

Re: UGH - Mom & Bach Party

I actually wanted to include my mom in some way but not for the late night shenanigans :). So I am having her come with us during the day to do a pole dancing class and a luncheon. I am also telling her she can come over to help me get ready for the night portion, but then from there it's just me and the girls. She was happy about this plan. I am not including FMIL in anything :/

Re: UGH - Mom & Bach Party

Last week FH and I had dinner with his entire family. His sisters will be my MOHs so we were discussing what I wanted to do for my Bach. party... All of a sudden, FH asks his mom if she is going... I think I stopped mid-sentence and looked at him. Thank god she said that she is too old otherwise I don't know what I would have done.

If you go out to dinner, you can have your mom and FMIL come to that and then they can go home so the rest of the ladies can party.
