So my mom and FMIL are throwing me a shower in Massachusetts, as sort of a compromise since the wedding is in NY. So the NY people are RSVPing to my FMIL and the MA people to my mom. Well, I called home today and the first thing she said in a mad voice was 'For someone who absolutely had to have a shower, you don't care one iota, do you? I haven't heard from you at all about who is coming to your shower.' Well I thought that wasn't MY job. No one is RSVPing to me, so how should I know. My FMIL is keeping everything on her end a secret from me, which I wanted. I just think it ***** that I call home and get yelled at. Everything to my mom is a burden, even my shower. I would have been hurt if no one threw me one, but I certainly didn't demand one. But I know to her this is just another burden. Which makes me less excited for it.

Don't worry! Some people (yes, even some family members) will try to drag you down.
Enjoy everything and try not to let it bother you!

Oh Beth, as someone who understands all too well about shower issues, I can relate. You are not supposed to know who is coming at all!!! So for your mother to say that is wrong!!
I hope things get better, and if you need an ear, I'm here!!!

I can totally relate....my mom runied my shower for me by complaining that my MOH wasn't letting her 'do' anything. so of course I asked my MOH, and her story is totally different...she says my mom was supposd to get back to her on a few things and never did. There has been so much problems with my mom, but I refuse to let her ruin it....that's the best advice I can give. It's YOUR day and no one can ruin it. HTH!!!
