Ugh, photo/video decision

Ugh, photo/video decision

Some advice please...

My sis just got her proofs back from Duet and they are beautiful. However, I thought Duet was a bit intrusive on the day of and so I've been looking elsewhere for my own wedding. However, the packages they offer are great and hard to compete with.

I did find another photographer that I really like and is reasonable, after interviewing like 10! And I found a video guy I like also. The total package for the 2 would be @ $4K, but would not include any albums, enlarged pictures or thank you's. However, everything else is comparable to Duet's package and I believe the quality is better as well. And I think you can make your own album on-line for like $50.

So, should I go with Duet just because of the all inclusive package and great price or try something different and take a chance for about the same price?

If you really like the DUET pics I would meet with the photographer beforehand and explain to him exactly what you want. As the bride you can tell him beforehand that you don't want him to be very intrusive. You could also you a different photographer than your sister. I am sure they have plenty. Just my two cents! Good luck.

Honestly...I feel if you're not comfortable with the photographer you shouldn't hire them regardless of price & packages. Your feelings will come out in the pics.

from what i understand albums are very expensive if you do them seperate.. so if you could get the package w/ them included i would go for that.. but definalty do your research first

I saw on shutterfly that you can make an album for like $50, I'm sure they are not the top albums, but it could be fun making it.

I really want a photographer/videographer with more experience and a great eye. I just feel like I could do better than Duet, ya know?

I don't think anyone has ever heard of the other guys, but I'm considering Agaton Strom for photo and Golden Moments for video. Anyone have any inputs on these guys?

I made an album on shutterfly of our HM pics and though it was perfect for that, I would never want that as my wedding album. I just got my album from Duet and it's just beautiful.
As far as being slightly uncomfortable with Duet, then by all means, book someplace else. But I would find a place that will make the albums for you, even if it's a couple hundred dollars more.

I've never heard of the ones you're looking into, but that doesn't mean they're not great. This board talks up Duet a lot. Personally...I think there are photographers who do just as well if not better. Some of the photographs of non-Duet brides are amazing.
Do you have a website for Agaton Strom & Golden Moments? Hey...maybe you can start a new trend...

I think Duet did a great job on my sis's but I just think there is better for close to what Duet charges. The only thing is those dame albums! How can Duet include them if they're so expensive?

Go with the photographer you are comfortable with. Don't regret this decision. Don't cheap out as well. Your pictures are your memories.

I know, I really like his work. I think I'm going to go with him and do the albums separate, when I have more money to go around!

Thanks for your advice ladies! Happy Thksgiving.

Does the 'new' photographer offer you the negatives? Without that you won't be able to make you album on you own.

I would ask them how much a CD with the negatives will be.

I met with a photographer who I really liked --but nothing was included -- when I priced it all out it would have been almost $2000 more.

Everything is included but the album. I get all the negatives on high resol CD and prints of the proofs, as well as an engagement shoot (which is not included in Duet's price).

THere are so many great photographers out there and it's such an important decision, I say keep looking until you find one you are comfortable with all around!

My newly engaged sister will most likely be using our photographer (velvet studios) since we were thrilled!!

I am personally not impressed with Duet. The pictures are nice, I won't deny that - But for ALL of the hype they get on these boards, you'd think they were the only photographer out there. -
You have to do your research and find a photographer you are 100% comfortable with. - That is the LAST decision you want to be regretting when you get your proofs back, or your irritated and annoyed by the photogrpaher on your wedding day ..........

I don't think this comment was really necessary........

BUT... you need to pick a photographer you are comfortable with. One whose work you love and want. If a photographer doesn't seem right for you, then don't use them. This goes the same for any other vendors you book.

I would never book a vendor I wasn't 100%comfortable with based on price. And if by some stretch of the imagination I was to consider it, it would never be on photos or video, because next year, next month, next decade, that is all that is left.

YOU have to feel comfortable! That photographer Agaton Strom has a great website and his work is amazing! Maybe meet w/ a few more photogs and then make a decision. Go with your gut.

There are SO many photographers out there, don't go with one you are not comfortable with.

I recommend Twlefth Night. ALbums are not included, but he can do them for you for an additional fee. He also works with a good videographer.
