Well, as if getting out of bed on this disgusting rainy day and hauling myself into work wasn't bad enough....I was pickpocketed this morning on the downtown 4 train.
LUCKILY it was only for my work ID and 30 day Metrocard- I keep those separate in my coat. Times are tough and people are desperate I guess...watch yourselves ladies.
I have to file and Incident Report at work for my ID now...ugh, hate paperwork.

oh wow... thank goodness if was only for those two things!! I was just reading that stealing is at an all time high right now too and that this holiday season, retail stores saw an increase in thieves by like 50% of other years... times are tough

This happened to my FH on the 7 train! And they stole his Wamu card and bought a Mac Airbook on it! Wamu called him up afterwards (too late) and verified his identity, and he was like WHAT??!?!?!?
Obviously disputed all those charges but what a headache.

I'm so sorry to hear your day started off like that. Thank God it wasn't anything too major that they got. My purse was stolen out of my car in feb and it was bad - smashed my window - ran up my credit cards. Glad that you're okay. It makes you feel unsafe and violated after something like that happens.
I don't mean to be rude here, but why on earth would you leave your purse in the car?
The only time I've ever done this is at the Jet game and I put it in the trunk...not like thats much better but at least its concealed...

You're not being rude. My entire family of cops was like you did what!!!! It was at the gym. I normally cover my purse with my gym bag and didn't. I guess they watched me leave the car without it and there it was. I learned my lesson the hard way!!!

sorry to crash - but i had the same thing happen, and actually got a really nice person at the MTA, and they replaced my 30-day card...i showed them my bank statement that i paid for it and explained that some loser pickpocketed me and he gave me a new one!

lucky that was everything...believe me times are getting much worse and there are more things like this happening everyday..
just happy nothing happened to you and it is nothing very important was stolen.
