The ironic thing is, almost every single table was easy to put together!!!
I had just one issue....my friends tables. I have so many people coming single. Then I have my work friends. My non-work friends came to 13. Obviously could not put 13 at a table.
My work friends came to 11 people. My poor friend has to come without her husband- she almost didn't come because of it! Just the fact that she told me she was considering not coming REALLY hurt me. But she finally came around.
So as you can see, I have one table of 13, one of 11.
I was not about to split my non-work friends table at 6 and 7. Just for one odd person?!
So this is what I did....I split up my work friends. There's a group of girls that I have lunch with and I kept them together (that includes the one person coming without her husband). Then I added a few of my own non-work friends. That makes a 12 person table.
The other table has the 'other' work friends - the 'younger' contingency that are really close. Then I added my non-work friends. Makes that 12.
Numbers-wise, it's a slam dunk. (Or should I say home run? OMG even in my stress I can still be cheesy )
But I worry about my one lone friend...I can see this bugging her. She'd probably resent she's at a table mixed with friends with strangers when she's alone.
Should I even care? This is the type of thing that would bother her. I love her but she is hella sensitive. I mean, the fact that she told me she might not come because of her husband really blew me away. It bothered her that much.
So...should I forewarn her? Call her, email her? UGH!
Or...should I split my non-friends to tables of 7 and 6 and have a work table of 11?
My sister says I shouldn't be worrying for ONE person! But I know you girls would understand....
TIA!

Ok this is going to sound mean, but is she 12??? She can't function w/o her husband??? OMG she has to go to a wedding alone??? Yeah, it's always nice to have a date but get over it! Jeez...I've gone to babyshowers where i only knew the Mom to be...several weddings alone when DH lived in Israel.....don't worry about one person...it's nice your concerned but she needs to learn how to be an adult...(sorry if i sound mean..it just drives me nuts when women depend on men so much and feel they can't do stuff w/o them)
You know what's funny? It's not about that she can't be without her husband...she will be absolutely fine socially. She can't stand what people will THINK of this woman ALONE at a wedding!! She is a nut...I love her but she's just a little spacey sometimes. That's why I told her...they'll only be looking at me, don't worry!
Thanks everyone!!! I guess, like my friend, I worry too much what people think too!! But in this case, I care about her feelings! She cares that people think she's some lonely woman!

THATS is the reason????? That is even WORSE of a reason!!!!! My DH could never make it to half of my functions because he was traveling for work. I guess people think i am a loser then, since my DH is not around now either...uh oh...better not go walk the dogs alone anymore...what will the neighbors say???? 'She's married...but there she is again...so sad, walking all alone around the block with just those two little dogs to keep her company!' You certainly do not need to stress about a wacky thing like that!!!

I'm sorry, but if she has an anxiety disorder, as I do and people I know do, going to a function such as a wedding without some sort of support could be terrorizing. IF this is the case with her, the bride should be extra glad and flattered that she is willing to brave it alone.

Nope, fortunately she doesn't have that disorder...she's really fine. Just very sensitive! And can be quite the complainer!

I think we share the same friend. I have one just like that. Most recently, she got REALLY upset that she came very late to a party and there was no seat for her at our table so she had to sit at the one next to us...with people she also knows. You really can't please everyone and rearrange your seating arrangement b/c she might get huffy. Personally, I barely sit at the table....only during the dinner.

I think splitting them up and changing the seating is fine. If she is that sensitive you arent going to make her happy no matter what you do. Dont stress over it, I had some tables i worried about and they were all fine. Maybe get her up dancing and that will ease the issues she may have being there without her husband. Otherwise, dont stress for one person, you have a whole room of people that will be happy
