Ugh to FH's parents

They're not helping pay for the wedding and they're now whining about the number of invites my parents gave them. UGH. The most frustrating part is that my FH isn't able to say to them what he should - that if they want more invites, maybe the should've offered to pay for a portion of this party!

I think Fh should tell them that they are more than welcomed to pay for additional gifts

My motto is, 'No pay, no say'. They have no right to complain if they're not contributing to the cost of the wedding.

thats a tough situation. My parents are paying for the reception and ceremony. My parents are not giving them an amount. Its up to FH and I to make sure we keep it at or around the minimum. is there any room for FH's family to invite those people and maybe they pay it those people make ur fam go over the minimum

i cant even imagine complaining about something like that..seriously, id be embarrassed to complain about not having enough of something that i didnt even pay for!

maybe you should just tell them how it is? in a nice way..

thanks everyone for your kind words!! FH's parents are divorced and therefore have totally different sets of friends and guests so i guess the 70 total invites my parents gave them is giving them trouble. but seriously, like a previous poster said, 'no pay, no say'! due to the delicate nature of the divorce situation, my FH just isn't great at being frank with his parents about touchy stuff. oh well. there were several guest list related fights the past few days but i guess that happens with every wedding. it'll all be fine.
