Ughh! The veil!

Ughh! The veil!

After 30+ dresses I finally found a long white dress that didn't make me puke. (I'm the black leather jacket and jeans girl and never worn a dress that wasn't black and short)

Anyway, I'm now instructed by dear old mom, that I must wear a veil. Really, I'm too tired to fight her on this. So what kind of veil do you think this dress?

(more detailed pics are in my album)

Is a birdcage net veil too weird?
like this one:

also, the veil must cover face during ceremony

You seem like a modern girl going for a more modern look, I think the veil really works for that. It's a good compromise between what your mom wants and what you like, and I think it would go well with that dress.

Then again I'm all lace and pearls and the hairstyle I love is being called a beehive so what do I know

Birdcage is different.
One of the '07 girls wore one for her vintage wedding. Let me think of who it was......

Your dress is very flowy, very lovely.
A silk tulle veil might also work. It lays flatter without that poofy look because of the silk.

Why does your face have to be covered during the ceremony if your dress is quite revealing ?

I love the dress! The detail is amazing!

Also I really like the bird cage veil but I like a smaller one. PS - I was highly considering a bird cage veil but decided against it because I am more of a traditionalist. BUT...I refuse to wear the veil over my face...I am wearing one that just goes on the back of my hair and thats it. I dont understand the whole veil thing. Are you supposed to cover your face so your FH doesnt see you!? When I walk down the aisel I want everyone to see my hair and makeup (that I payed good money for!)

Here are some picture of a friend who wore a bird cage veil....I was not at the wedding but love the look!

Yeah, I like the idea of a silk tulle, if you don't go with the birdcage veil.

Love the dress BTW!!!!

she looks beautiful! yea - i didn't wear the veil over my face either....although i was glad i wore one in generall....just made me feel more 'bride-ish' ..however when i walked down that aisle i wanted to SEE my future hubby waiting for me so i had it back..... u just have to be careful 'cause some guys do expect it...my best friend is getting married & she didn't want to wear her veil over her face...her FH heard her mention it and was like 'what?? what do u mean?? u have too!' so i guess to each is own!

I was struggling trying to figure out if I should wear it over my face or not... My grandmother was already pretty disappointed that my dress isn't white (it's ivory and kinda peach-ish), and I know she'd want me to for traditions sake, but I'm just not a fan of it... and surprisingly FH actually did have an opinion on it... he told me to make sure my veil's not 'poofy' like the one at the wedding we just went to so decision made! I'm doing a 1 teir knee length just coming from under the hair in the back. I agree I definitely want one though so I can feel more 'bride-ish'!

Exactly! My mom thinks it will offend the rabbi if my shoulders are bare an my boobs are poppin out!
She wants me head to toe covered in veil

I'll have to try out the birdcage thing, just because its different, but I don't think I'm vintage enough to pull it off.

Thanks for all the great suggestions!

Re: Ughh! The veil!

Ok I got another picture and some info on where this veil is from:

I got my birdcage veil from Laura Jayne...it was custom made with a feather comb and Swarovski crystals.

She is really amazing--I got my other veils (cathedral ceremony/reception finger tip) and earrings from her as well!

I originally met her at Bridal Couture on Manhasset, but if you her e-mail her she is really quick to respond.
