Re: ughhh

Thats not fair. I would tell her listen mom, we are limited to the number we can have, you cant invite all these people. take a moment to look at the list and have people that really need to be there.

Is there any way that you can call Westbury and see if the larger room is open? I am getting married there and I have the manor room, and I guarenteed 140 I believe.

Re: ughhh

i did call and to have it there on a saturday night i was told for the big room i would have to guarantee a minimum of 200... which i cant do....

it is just annoying because shes inviting family (more than i had expected) so how can i really justify saying no to that and then letting some work friends come.......

idk.. just not what i forsaw.....

thanks for listening!

I am sorry, I see what you are saying about family though. It is a tough position to be in. I am sure everything will work out in the end.

Talk to your mom! Let her know there are people who YOU ((((aka the BRIDE))) really want to come. And the guest list can not keep increasing. Let her know the stress that this is causing you

I think you should talk to your mom and tell her that nobody else can come. That the room has a capacity and you want to have people that are special to you there since it is YOUR wedding.

I'm sort of in the same situation. Our room only holds 200 and I saw the room set for 200 and it's TIGHT! so i am worried and FIL's keep inviting more people and I'm like they just don't fit! it's not that we don't want to spend the $$$ it's that there won't be a seat if they all say ok! Personally its your wedding and your list should be invited first! I would definitely sit down and talk to your mom. It's not fair otherwise. I made FH talk to his parents about it. We made sure everyone we wanted to be there was there first. then if you get no's you can add the rest! Or you can do what we are doing. ...sending out invitations in waves...first to a bunch of people we are expecting to get no's from...at around 10 weeks...then the next set at 8 weeks and this all will give us time to invite others after we get some no's!

Oh that is rough, I went through the same thing and I put my foot down and told them we are paying for it you have this amount of people to invite make it work! We had a HUGE blowout but in the end I got what I wanted! Maybe you can talk to her about it being your wedding and wanting to have your friends there as well, it is important to you and tell her she has to limit her number. Are they paying for it?

Re: ughhh

honey, you need to grab hold of your mom and shake her.

Your day, your guests. If she wants to include her friends you can have a brunch the following day for well wishes.
