went to Thatched Cottage today for a tasting w/the rents and I/they loved the place. The food was excellent btw.
so i went after to Fox Hollow and absolutely fell in love with it. I don't care to much for the grounds b/c there aren't much of it, but the room for the ceremony, CH room and Winter Pavillion room are basically what i'm looking for.
i have no idea how to decide between the 2.
Thatched has an amazing outside ceremony site and CH plus the Reception room is bigger BUT read my description of Fox Hollow above. They're both around the same price too. Fox Hollow also doesn't have a tasting and I don't believe the restaurant food is the same
Help me please :D

Re: ughhhh i'm so freakin torn.......
we booked fox hollow, the amount of food for the price is amazing!!
I have also been to 2 weddings at Fox Hollow, and both times the food was some of teh best I have ever had, not jsut the best wedding food I have ever had, but the best food period.
if FH has not seen Fox Hollow, I would take him there, but if you haven't found the one you 'love' I would keep looking.
I went to 14 places before we went back to Fox Hollow to book, it fits with us, and we love it there, so I am a little biased lol

Re: ughhhh i'm so freakin torn.......
I am not thrilled with the Swan Club, I call it a wedding factory b/c every wedding I have attended there, We have run into other parties in the gardens and one time the dresses were so similar between parties that I even took picture with the a bridesmaid from the wrong party in it (opps...)
The Westbury Manor is gorgeous and is owned by the same people as Fox Hollow (well sorta) so the food is just as good. I did find the indoor room a little weird b/c my cocktail hour would have been separated into two rooms if it rained and it could not be outside
I personally fell in love with the Fox Hollow as did my FH. We would be saving by not needing a limo since the hotel is next door and the price for what I got was unbeatable by everyone. There didn't appear to be much grounds at first but when asked, they showed us two more garden areas where we could take photos that he didn't even mention during the 1st walk through. There is also a park across the street with fountains and you can take photos in the hotel next door as well. They also have an indoor studio if needed. The food is also supposedly amazing.

Re: ughhhh i'm so freakin torn.......
ok i'm back. while it's pretty, it's not for me. i didn't get the wow factor. :(
Sora, I had a black tank top on w/dark blue jeans and FH had a gray shirt with a hat on.
Only people i saw were a mom and daughter sitting on a bench outside, and a couple in the parking lot meeting up with someone.
As for the watermill, i'm staying away. I always heard it was a factory and the food was not so good (bro just went to a wedding there a month ago and confirmed lol). However, i did hear the Scotto bros did buy it out so maybe they'll change.
Unless someone knows of a place like Flowerfields without there price, i think i'm honestly going to decide between Fox Hollow and Thatched. I did not know there were more gardens to FH and am extremely happy to hear this! i wasn't that impressed with the grounds but now i have more to look forward to.
We're going to try t go back to FH....FH and the rents. Wish me luck!! lol

Alyssa -
I was between Fox Hollow and Flowerfields. I REALLY wanted Flowerfields, of course without the price tag. On top of the high price you still have to add in tax and graturity, so it was just way out of the price range.
I am happy with the Fox Hollow and have heard nothing but great things.
Good Luck!

it is cheaper for a sat or sunday afternoon? Dont they give you a photography package too?
If it were me, and my heart was set on a place, Id figure out a way to make it happen. But if you love Thatched or Fox hollow just as much I'm sure you'll be happy with whatever you pick.
FH and I both believe you have to do what makes you happy, with no regrets.

Like Christine, I would have LOVED LOVED LOVED to get married at Flowerfields. I heard nothing but good things and saw beautiful pictures... but the price was out of my range... and since we're paying for it ourselves, there was no way to 'Make it work' (tm-Tim Gunn)
After we visited 5 other reception halls Fox Hollow had everything we were looking for and it was in our price range, and I love it more every time I go there.
We're taking friends of ours to dinner at Rose Hunt on Saturday -- and dropping off a deposit... I'm going to see if I can find out more about these other gardens.

Are they giving you anything for free when you go? They told us we'd get free appetizers if we went, but I'm embarassed to ask for it

I am not at ALL embarrassed ... I am paying thousands of dollars for food I probably won't even eat the day of, so I best get to sample the chef beforehand
I will 'politely demand' if I don't get free appetizers

they were high all the way around. i think they only gave the package from Jan-March and there might have even been a limited # of those packages.
when i come home later (i'm on lunch break) i'll let you know the prices

you are such a sweetheart Jess, thanks. If I could give you a 'real' hug i would but a virtual one has to do for now haha .
to be honest, i have a decent sized budget for the hall alone (my dad ) but i feel really bad spending that much. i can plan a WHOLE wedding for what he offered but he refuses to help me out with the dress, limo, photogs, etc, etc and just wants to use that $$ for the hall.
i did just look at Flowerfields pricing and for my night, it'd be 160 min at $150pp. lol
i am going to make an appt there AFTER I go to Fox Hollow to really compare the 2. And I figure I might not like it as much as I thought i did
However, i'm planning on inviting 125 and i'd say i won't go over $130 a person.
