Re: Ughh...Which would you choose?

well just because marina has more stations doesn't mean that people will starve at the other place. i am sure that there is plenty at glen island with plenty of chances for people to take 2nds
what i would do is try the food at the 2nd place to see if it is good.. if the food doesn't compare, then go with marina
hope this helps

Re: Ughh...Which would you choose?

tough choice!! We are having our wedding at marina the day after you....july 2nd. We also saw glen island and LOVED it!! the deciding factor for us was the price difference between the two. Also we live in queens so marina del rey is significantly closer! I also felt that marina offered more and they were not pushy with anything. Either place is beautiful!! Also remember that although it is nice to have an outdoor area where people can go hang out....you also may want them inside where the music and party is.
No matter which you choose you will have a beautiful day. Make a list of pros and cons....thats what we did!!

food tasting will help...

sounds like glen harbor is the better choice...

when youre ready to haggle with them and book a date...tell them your situation...tell them you are torn between the two but the other place is offering you more CH stations...

they might throw 2 in for you...the economy stinks, no one wants to turn away any business

Re: Ughh...Which would you choose?

I looked at both places and they are both beautiful. I would have to say considering your family has had other affairs at Marina Del Ray, perhaps you should go with Glen Island. It will be a more unique setting and memorable experience for everyone. I personally did not look at any venues where I had my sweet sixteen or other family members had parties because I wanted something that I would remember as my wedding...not the place everyone has been to 5 times.
Although there are less food choices I am sure there will be plenty of food to go around and no one will leave hungry. I have not been to an affair at either place but everyone raves about Glen Island and from what i hear the food quality is amazing but def taste it and see what you think. Quality is better then quantity (but again, i have not been to either venue so i am not by any means bashing marina del ray's food or anything about them)
Another thing to consider are the grounds; you mention you like Glen Island better and when you look back at your pictures you want the beautiful backgrounds.
Either way, you have 2 great locations to decide between...good luck!

Re: Ughh...Which would you choose?

You guys have really helped me to put this into more perspective. I am so excited and have decided to go with GI! I just agree that it's better for me to go somewhere new and different! (contingent on the food tasting of course!)

YAYYY!!! =) Thanks for all of your help!!!

it sounds like Glen Island is a better choice for you. I wouldn't worry about there not being enough food at all. Though you might want to bring it up with them that Marina was giving you a TON more and see what they could do (if anything).

I checked out both places also for my wedding. I liked Glen Island better and thought they were giving us a much better deal and stuff. BUT, keep this in mind.. you MUST use one of 2 of their house vendors for florists. They aren't the cheapest so take that into consideration when deciding. That was actually a deal breaker for us.
