UGH...The Leg Cramps

Original post by HeatherandNick

make them stop.... please

I have woken up every night this week from what feels like a charlie horse in both legs at the same time. This after I finally fall asleep while trying to get rid of the 'pukey feeling' that sits in my throat.

When does it get better?

okay - vent over

I recommend Mineral Ice...... I thought my DH was INSANE for recommending it to me when we were preggo.. It felt sooooooooooo good to slop some of it on, and the cramps seemed to disappear!! It will get better... Oh I also found DRINKING A TON of water before bed made my legs last into the later part of the night!

Re: UGH...The Leg Cramps

I had leg cramps with my last pregnancy. The dr. said the cause is unknown, but it is suspected that calcium and potassium (hence the bananas mentioned earlier) have to do with it. You need more potassium or less calcium if you are getting cramps. It might be the other way around so ask the dr. I was unable to prevent mine, but I alleviated the pain immediately by flexing my foot. It hurt so much I could not get my foot to flex on its own. I had to pull up on my toes with my fingers. The more I got them the more the pain lingered during the day like a pulled calf muscle. It hurt to walk for a few hours after I got up. Feel better!

RE: the leg cramps - I was told to eat a banana every day and it helps with the leg cramps. I believe it. I never had any

I heard this too, years ago and not just for pregnancy. I think its the potassium that helps keep the leg cramps away. I eat several a week and never get them. (now or pre-preggo) Give it a try!
