Uh - oh sticky situation I need help on!!

Ok so as most of you can tell I am writing out my Thank yous

Well we wrote the amount each person gave us on the back of the card.. just so we know.
Anyway we did this with every single card.
I went to write a TY for someone who didnt attend but sent a card with my sister and when I turned it over there was nothing written on the back. So now I don't know if this person sent a gift or not.
Do I just thank him for thinking of us on our day and not mention the 'generous gift' part?? I am afraid if I skip that part and he did send a gift I look rude for overlooking it.

I think it's better to err on the side of caution. if he didn't give gift and you make it sound like he did, you'll embarass him, or worse, he'll think you're giving hima dig.

I think if you fill up the whole TY card space waxing poetic about how much he was missed at the wedding and how thoughtful it was for him to think of you although you could not attend, and blah blah blah, he won't even notice.
