I think it is us as consumer that are at fault, we encourage a lot of this so when someones career is going down the tube , why n ot pull off a stunt that would spark this media frenzy. I mean Britney is considered one of the most popular pop females is it for her voice um NO it is her sex appeal that is selling millions of records!

Those are the same kids who play violent computer games and watch reality programs and shows full of disgusting stunts, violence, curse words and blood!!!

I would much rather my kids to see a boobie for 5 seconds than watch someone eat bugs or shoot and hit people!

Our country needs to lighted up! It's a boob!!! It's not like she pulled out a gun or something!

I hate when the media goes crazy like this...I think they are truly the ones who exacerbate these issues...

Firgured I'd give you a business owners point of view.

1) It wasn't her call to do it. She was hired to do a job and took it upon herself to make changes - can't do that (Just think if the owner of your business came to work one day and the front of his buildiong was painted pink. Some employee said I like the color pink so I repainted - survey says, you are fired!)

2) This was on public TV where kids are watching - def not a good thing (affects advertisers, public trust etc)

3) It goes against what the FCC allows

4) AOL paid 10 million to produce the show with the agreement that they could stream the half time show on their network. Can't do that now and AOL wants money back.

So all-in-all her boob isn't a big deal - there are bigger - but the result of her actions is where the problem begins. You just can't take it upon yourself to make these kinds of decisions.

Uh, no...sorry LIW, but this BS does not sit well w/me (nothing personal...I just don't see it the same as you, Ron).

This WHOLE issue is complete HYPOCRISY! It is NOT about LAWS or the FCC at all! It is about MONEY and CBS, MTV and the NFL are all pissed that Janet's boob lost them an opportunity to make more money!

If we are to make such an example of Ms. Jackson's deplorable behavior, then why the heck isn't anyone screaming about the moron who continually grabbed his CROTCH during his performance - or how about the sexually explicit LYRICS in many of the songs that were performed??? Justin's 'I'm gonna have you naked by the end of this song...' Hmmmm...wonder why no parents are throwing a fit over THAT stuff too???

I am sick and tired of people saying bad things about Janet when the ENTIRE sport of football has built it's foundation on scantilly-clad women in cheerleading outfits and go-go boots, and beer commercials that sexually exploit women or treat them like OBJECTS. Janet's boob was NOT completely exposed, and I do NOT believe for ONE minute that Justin or the MTV producers were unaware of the stunt - I believe they all signed off on it and now are denying knowledge b/c of the reaction it got! Shame on them!

Sorry to get so passionate, but I am sick and tired of women being objectified by the media, entertainment and sports and then these MEN have the NERVE to cry foul? Gimme an effing break!

I saw an interview with the head of the FCC and he said that all aspects of the half time show are being reviewed and that complaints do include everything Claud just mentioned.

Not all kids play those kind of violent computer games. The problem is it is up to the parents to decide when and what their kids will be exposed to (if you don't want them to see people eating bugs, don't let them watch certain reality shows), the choice was taken away from the parents b/c there was no warning that this was coming.

I personally don't find it that big a deal, I mean you really did not even see anything, but I can also see how some people , especially parents, would not be happy about it. And all Ron's points are extremly valid as well. They just should not have done.

Claud2001 - confused by your comments. What I said was she is in trouble because SHE decided to make a change in the program. It doesn't make a difference if she got naked or brought a pink pony on stage. She made a change in the programming. You can not do that. Period! And yes it is about money. It's business and that is what businesses are in business for - to make money. If you do something that losses your employer a considerable about of money you are going to get the ax.

Exactly! My kids do not own games like that. Why they don't even watch TV. This was on public TV during 'Family Time' TV hours. Thus the choice was taken away. But as I stated it's not what was done it was that 'something' was done to change what it was supposed to be.

Also, I'm sure that MTV will be slapping a lawsuit on her as well being that they are not allowed to EVER produce another show AND MTV has been losing out as well.

I read in newsday today that Laguna Beach High School in Cali, was supposed to have MTV come in and tape a Real life kind of series.. well LBHS backed out due to the Janet and her Boob Bowl performance.. They (LBHS) were supposed to collect like 50 g's and college scholarships for use ofhte school and they werelike FORGET IT..

What are you confused about? I really think it's naive to say that NO ONE knew about the finale of Janet's and Justin's performance. Period.

I said...I do NOT believe for ONE minute that Justin or the MTV producers were unaware of the stunt - I believe they all signed off on it and now are denying knowledge b/c of the reaction it got! Shame on them! I ALSO believe that CBS, et al. are not just pissed that they lost money....I firmly believe that they are pissed b/c they missed out on the chance to somehow profit from all the publicity this topic is getting! Don't kid yourself that Janet won't be selling millions of new CD's b/c of this...bad PR is still PR...and the network is just a crybaby b/c they won't have a piece of her huge paycheck. Case in point (although a MUCH more serious offense than Janet's boob!) - R. Kelly has sex w/a minor and goes on to sell millions of CD's after his trial...go figure?

Let's get real - MTV has long prided itself on their 'shock factor' type programming, so I just cannot simply get my head around them saying they were 'punked.' I believe it was a load of BS for them to claim that. Also, CBS (as part of the same parent company as MTV) should have been well-aware of the style of show MTV would produce....and they should have taken that under advisement prior to asking them to produce a Super Bowl halftime show.
