Umm...more $$$$$ for Pre-cana??!!! AND QUESTION...

I am in RI, the priest said to do pre-cana out here...well..its $85!!!!! I cannot beleive how commercial they have made for weddings to be...its already 500 for rthe church donation for having then wedding there, plus now 85 for pre-cana.

QUESTION.....How long is your pre-cana? days? Weeks?? Mines only 1 night....June 9th from 7 till 10PM....does this sound right? THnik different states have different rules?

Our Pre-Cana, was 6 weeks long, every monday night. The 'donation' was $50

They gave us a book as to different weekends or nights for us to choose from (we only had to pick one) and it was $150. But the church for us is 'give whatever you feel is appropriate' but then its $125 for the organist So your one night sounds about right but then the priest told us we have to come in and see him several times.

THey also mentioned doing a weekend thing, for 210 a couple...Yikes....and they all include some sexuality chat....this will be interesting...

My FH flipped when I told him we had to pay for these classes!!! He said 'Forget it!!! We are not getting married in the church!!' I laughed at him and said nothing is free honey

Ours was $75 and it was Friday night 7-10 and Sat. 9-5 and then stay through the 5:00 mass (ended at 6:00). It was nice to get it all over with in one weekend, but we got to go home inbetween!! The priest mentioned a retreat to us and my FH and I said no way!

We did our in CT and the it was from 1-4pm on a sunday, and paid $75 bucks.. It was fun, but we didn't do many activities, glad it's done though..

I think there are a lot of different pre-canas you can do. Mine was free and was only 2 nights for 2 hours. I have no idea why it was free?
I have friends who had everynight for 1 hour for 2 weeks!

Wow, you're getting off lucky. Ours was two days, like six hours a day, and was $250. I WISH ours was only $85 and three hours long.

$85 is actually good compared to what we spent. Ou pre-cana was $125 for a whole Saturday (9 a.m. - 3 p.m.).

I was told $250 or $350 depending on what session we chose thru the Dioces but then my church decided to offer PreCana again and it's a $50 fee for 3 friday nights from 7:00-10:00 I think.

I went in NJ last Saturday from 12-7 and paid $60. They provided lunch and snacks. They also gave the women flowers when they gave out the certificates. They could definately justify the fee.

Mine is $25 for 4 (or is it 6) nights, 2 hours long. But the FAQ sheet says if you get married at that particular church - they deduct it from the price at the final $400 'donation'

Ours was included as part of the total donation, but I think they use the pre-cana money for any materials they use and snacks and stuff.

We lucked out with a one-day session since FI lives in Virginia, there is no way we could do a weekly program.
