I wish I could wear heels. I fell and twisted my ankle in college and ever since wearing heels has been a nightmare for me! Id rather just walk down with nothing!! FH would kill me on the Converses! I have a pair and he makes fun of me everytime I wear them. Would be a good joke though...

Re: un-orthodox
I may wear doc martin's since i live in those damn boots- i don't do heels that well.
both my parents are walking me down the aisle which i don't think thats to unorthodox anmore
i have a best man / man of honor no maid/matron of honor.
we are playing VERY diff. music in our cocktail hour and some of our reception. I have to say most brides would not play it.
Most of my bp has more tatts then the coney island freak show
we are getting married by the mayor of our town who is the local mortician and who is a family relative. (free and priceless) so i get a very personal touch.
Umm think that is it that i can think of.
Oh no limo's!

i love the converse sneakers idea!! all of your 'un-orthodox' things are just going to make the day yours!! which is really what it's all about.

Re: un-orthodox
no bridal party, just MOH and best man. FH's best man is his gay 76 year old uncle! no garter/bouquet toss.

We're not having floral centerpieces--we're having beta fish instead, and not honeymooning for a few months after the wedding.

I second this....
what exactly are you planning on playing?? I'm looking for more ideas ....I've been compiling a playlist for my DJ so that I can acutally hear music I enjoy at my own wedding. It's unfortunete though to find that sometimes even though a song may seem romantic that one line could kill the whole thing.....I've been sorting thru so much stuff lately trying just to find suitable music to mix in with the stuff i don't really care for.....the wedding song has been that hardest. We have a 'song' but it's not danceable. grr...
anyway....myself and my bp are quite tattooed (some more then others) but I was acutally asked by my mother if I, in particular, planned to cover my fairly large arm piece and take out my facial piercing.....
...that was a big no.
now, i'm just have to find someone who has good earrings for a wedding that would fit in a 4 gauge hole....I'm thinking I might get custom made blown-glass.....hmmm
thank goodness my family has come to expect a certain amount of off-beat, oddness from me....
ps - we are not honeymooning right away either....we're moving out of his parents house instead!!!! OH MAN I CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Play what you want, people wont notice the lyrics that much. FH and I wanted to play slipknot-vermillion pt2, I wanted it so we can dance to it but the dj played it during dinner, but FH and i love this song and means alot to us so we got up during dinner at our e-party and started dancing by ourselves. Some of the lyrics are great and go but most of the lyrics really didnt lol

Re: un-orthodox
We are really doing a gamit of various artist we like. Nothing too too insane until the end of the wedding but some artist that will be played:
Slayer Frank Zappa Misfits Tori Amos (even though thats not heavy but it is diff) Dropkick Murphys The Pogues Flogging Molly Gwar Internal Bleeding (getting my death metal in there) Possibly a Skinless song (getting my death metal in there) if I can find their instrumental version of a particular song they did live Ludichrist Iron Maiden Benny Hill Show theme and Monty Python Soundtracks for silly crap we might do or cake cutting The Corrs Death Angel (fh's request not mine)
Thats is all I can think of on the top of my head. We are creating the entire cd for the cocktail hour professionaly mixed by our friend who does it for a living. We are not allowing rap, club etc music just a nice mix of 50's & 60's some 70's disco hits for fun, mostly 80's new wave and some contemporary hits.

Okay you're all tempting me to go buy some wedding day Converses to wear under my dress...My Grandmother would fall over...my FH would probably fall with her...
