UNBELIEVABLE DAY yesterday with ONE MONTH to go!
So yesterday FH and I took the day off to get weddings things done. It was out 143rd Monthiversary
And just ONE MONTH until the wedding!
We went to the NYC Office of the City Clerk to get outrmarriage license . It was pretty annoying because of the the arraignment of Dominique Strauss-Kahn around the corner. Lots of traffic and the municipal lot was full of reporters, so we spent a fortune on parking since we decided to drive.
We got there later than we'd hoped, at 11:30. They checked our IDs at the first desk and gave us a number. We walked to the far counter where they were calling the 'A' numbers. It was at A60 when we got there, we were A78 and it took about an hour. I HIGHLY recommend filling out the form ahead of time online. Lots of people did not do that and we secretly hated them because they had to have the clerk then fill out every single thing, name, address, parents names, etc, which we did easily at home, One couple took forever because there was some dispute over what the groom's legal name was...I mean...REALLY?
So when it was our turn we handed her our IDs, our credit card and the paper where I;'d written down the confirmation number. After that it took minutes. We confirmed that the info was correct. She took down our social security numbers and did a search for prior marriages, printed the form and we were on our way.
Then we cabbed it up to Orchard Corset , where I was able to exchange my corset, no problem and we walked the mile back down to where our car was parked.
We made a pit stop at home before driving out to
A Taste of Home in Bellemore for our cake tasting.
They told us to help ourselves to some coffee and then we looked through books to get ideas for the look for our cake. Then she brought out plates with 3 different kinds of cake and about 10 different fillings along with 2 different butter creams and fondants. She made the first mini cake for us and then told us to play. We quickly chose our cake choice- Chocolate and yellow cake with chocolate mousse and oreo mousse.
We decided to upgrade to fondant, and the oreo mousse was also an upgrade but they gave us a good deal so it wasn't too expensive. We then bought soem sandwiches for lunch and a box of pastries to bring home to the fam since this bakery will also be providing the pastries for our mini Viennese.
We then hightailed it to Wrap With Us in Syosset. We made it there just as they were closing since it's IMPOSSIBLE to find. It says it's on Robbins lane, but it's behind other stores, so you have to turn onto Aerial Drive to find it. They let us in and loaded the favors into the car.
Then we went over the Boradway Bound Dance Center for our first lesson with John from Ballroom Dance LI . This was SOOOO much fun. We really had a great time and he made us both feel comfortable. I wish I had more time and money and could do more lessons. We learned some basic modified foxtrot steps and he taught my FH soem freestyle moves. We felt really confident and wanted to learn more. He said when it gets closer to the wedding we can do a lesson at the hall. SO COOL.
We topped off our day with dinner at my favorite restaurant Frankly Thai in Franklin Square And then we headed home and collapsed!
AWESOME DAY..
