So my coworker got married last August and never sent out thank you notes. Its coming on a year, and he told me today that he sent out his thank you's a couple of weeks ago. Wanna know the catch? He said he didn't send any out to us (his coworkers) because he sees us all the time and can thank us in person. And by the way, after he said that he didn't even then say 'thank you for the gift'. And then he says that when we wrote the notes, he didn't even mention the gifts in the note, but instead wrote to people updating them on his life, career, etc. Is that kind of rude?

Re: Unbelieveable ettiquete
I'm still waiting on thank you cards from at least 3 weddings that I've attended in recent years. I traveled out of state (and out of the country for one) to attend each of them.
The interesting part about all of this is I just got a save the date for a baby shower for one of the couples that now lives in southeast US. A friend that attended the wedding with me (and who also received the baby shower STD) mentioned that she never got a thank you card either so she is not planning to attend the baby shower.
The shower will be held in NJ.

What is wrong with people?! Its not that hard! You go down your guest list and write a thank you note. It only has to be a few lines of kind words to be appreciated.

I would say something like... you know, I think the thank you card from your wedding got lost in the mail.

You know, even when my ring bearer had his first birthday party (he's 6 now) I remember his mom sent thank you notes to everyone and wrote them like they came from him. And that was a bbq in the back yard, not a wedding!

His wife must be just as rude.....b/c SHE should have at least taught him the correct ettiquette to send a Thank you.....I dont care who the hell you are or how often I see you.......
That is equivalent to have someone not send in their response card, b/c when they see you, they'll tell you.
OK ...Now I am heated.....
I was thinking the same thing....like, what kind of wife is she to allow that to happen? I mean, who the hell would trust a man to write thank you notes (unless absolutely necessary, like w/a different language or something and even then you would monitor it as much as possible)????

Actually, we got him a really thoughtful (and expensive gift). We covered our plates at least twice over (he had a buffet).

Re: Unbelieveable ettiquete
a thank you is just that, a thank you..not a mini review of your life...thats bizarre and extremly ego-tisitcal of him.
