Unclaimed Property/Assets in New York State!!! Help...

OMG!!! I just checked the NY State office of the comptroller website for Unclaimed Property/Assets in New York State, http://www.osc.state.ny.us/ouf/index.htm . I found my deceased father! It was reported in 1991(he died when I was 6). It's listed as wages/payroll/salary/pension. Does anyone know about this type of stuff???? Can I claim it as his only child????

Sorry don't know anything about it.
But maybe there are instructions on the website to claim the money.

I believe there is a form you can print out and it will give you instructions on how to submit the claim. If there is anumber try calling or email. I had found my father once and was able to print the form, but I was not claiming it he was. Good luck, hope it helps pay for some of the wedding.

yeah, I hope so too. I think I'll need to jump through hoops to get it. I need a death certificate and a bunch of other things. I hate that they don't tell you the amount. I'd hate to go through all this trouble for $50.

I wonder, if it is a pension how much do you think it could be for???

wow-im on there with an address i lived from brith to 5 yrs old....but its listed from 1999 reported by a pharmeceutical company

My deceased grandmother is on there but my parents think it may only be a few $$ and don't want to take the time to do anything with it. They think it is stock dividends but they are only guessing. I don't think I have standing to do anything.

I don't know if this is the same thing but FH father passed away in 10 years ago and a few months ago he got a call and got some money from unclaimed money. He got like 1000! I think it was for something for going to college.

My deceased father is on there, too. It's reported in 2000--he passed away in 1987. Hmmm...gonna call my mom.

Thanks SOOO much for letting us know about this.

I did a search in several states and found unclaimed money for my mother, grandmother, and father, who passed away 25 years ago!

Started the claiming proceedings already, hope it works out.
