uncomfortable situation - UPDATED - BUMMER

ok - so i can think too much into something - so here it goes...

Ive been on medical leave since Feb. I havent been back at work - although one of the girls calls me from time to time to talk. about 7 of them were invited to my shower - and only 2 called. Shower is next weekend and my mom needs to give a head count tomorrow.

I have their cell phone numbers - but i feel akward having my mom call them. I do NOT want them to know too much whats going on with my health - bc we work in a small room all women - so we all know how that goes - and its just unneeded stress. I dont need everyone talking about me.

My mom doesnt really now how to be like 'oh shes ok - day by day' My mom feels bullied when people ask her questions and she spills her guts.

We contemplated putting my shower off - but its very low key and i want it to happen - im bored and the wedding is in may!

I dont think i should be the one to call - bc im not supposed to really know about the shower.

I was thinking of asking another BM who is 35 and knows her sh!t - excellent talker and polite- about giving her their numbers to call and handle it.

and now my mom tells me that she invited 65 people and only 37 are coming and shes 'hurting for me' I feel like such a loser. We need 50 to close the room - she cant afford to pay to close it, even tho she wants too..

if your BM agrees, just have her do it! I dont think it would be out of the ordinary. Plus maybe they are still wondering if the shower is going on.

OR can you have your mom or friend email them?

i agree with having the BM call. my mom is the same - she doesn't have a filter and tends to talk just a tad too much.

thanks - now if i can get ahold of the bm

i agree with the other girls, have the BM do it.

I also work in a small office with all women , SO if you don't want them to ' talk ' don't give ( or your mom , by accident ) them ANY info that you are not comfortable with .

awwww i am so sorry dont worry bc the day of your shower you wont even think about the fact that they are not there. You'll be too busy enjoying yourself and really appreciating those who are.
