I believe this has been posted before, but I'm not able to pull anything up on a search...
We're under minimum.... quite a bit. Any suggestions? Has anyone ever had a hall lower the minimum?

There isn't much you can do. I know that many people count their vendors when they are running low. Also, maybe you can invite more friends or people from work. This happens a lot, and I'm sure that other people would love to go.

We were under our minimum as well - sad since it was only 125! We can in at just under 100. I called the banquet manager and explained that I understood that we had a contract and we fully intended to pay for the 125 we guaranteed BUT was there anything he could do for us? The thing is that they really don't *have* to do anything, but he was great - he added some great stuff to our cocktail hour like shrimp cocktail and smoked salmon ot our vodka/caviar station and he also added sushi and some other stuff to our passed hors d'oeurves. I would call and be nice, explain what's going, and find out what they can hook up for you

look at the bright side, at least you're getting the RSVP's back. my RSVP date is Saturday and 21 ppl have yet to respond (21 may not seem bad, but we only invited 70!)

I don't think they will lower the minimum. Try to ask them for extra stuff, like a vienesse hour.

I understand exactly what you're going through. We're under our number as well. I just had a couple cancel last night because she broke her toe and after attending a wedding last weekend , she realized she really won't have a good time, won't be able to dance - so she cancelled. I'm definitely under. I still have to do a final count, but I know it's under 150.
I'm going to talk to WM as well, maybe there is something that can be done. In the event that they let you count your vendors as part of the final count, then at least you're not paying the extra money for them, just count them as a guest.
I feel that sometimes they make the minimum too high. We had a big problem when trying to find a hall. The halls that had a low minimum didn't have the nice outdoor ceremony section I love - for that matter, no outdoors at all.
