When I was at my first fitting, I tried on a corset type thing with a bra/cup top. I loved the way it sucked in my tummy area and gave a little bit of padding in the dress, but COULD NOT DEAL with how 'the girls' looked and felt. Everything was kind of just sitting there.... if that makes sense I kind of felt like a linebacker
I'm wondering... do they make a corset thing withOUT the bra/cup top part? (and I'm not talking about a spanx kind of thing)

I've seen things called waist cinchers - they're the same as corsets, but they don't cover you on top. I don't know if you would be able to wear a regular bra with it though....were you planning on going without one? If so, you could always have cups sewn into your gown.

I had them sew cups into the dress. I don't really need a bra, that's why I would just like something around the middle

Yes, they make a waist only undergarment. It also hooks in the back.
