Uneven number in wedding party men/women? Look silly?

My fiance wants to ask 4 guys to be in the wedding party, but I only want to ask 2 girls, possibly 3. Is it wrong to have less girls (for example, when they ask the bridal party to dance)? Also, how about pictures? Will it look funny if I don't have the same amount as my fiance? Thanks for your advice.

Not Silly At All

Not at all! My cousin got married back in July and he had 6 guys and his wife had only a MOH. She has no sisters, so she picked her cousin, whom she is very close to and she didn`t want to ask people she wasn`t close to just to have 'space fillers' I think it`s called a 'Kings Wedding' or something like that. The bridal party was introduced individually and when it came time for the dance, the MOH danced with the Best Man, and the rest of the guys danced with their wives and girlfriends. It worked out fine.

We are also having an uneven number in our bridal party. 8 guys and 7 girls. The MOH will be escorted by the 2 Best Men. We're not sure how we're going to work the first dance, though...

It is called a 'King's Wedding'

It's not silly at all to have an uneven number in the bridal party. My friend's sister did this, and it worked out fine. However, I think the men are called Ushers, not Groomsmen. I also had an uneven number (last minute change), and I had one of my groomsmen escort two bridesmaids. It was fine. During the first dance, one of the BM's danced with her boyfriend, instead of the bridal party partner.

We had an uneven number (m)

and it worked out fine. I had my MOH & 3 BM, Mike had his BM & 4 'guys'. We had my brother (one of the guys) escort my mom & grandmother down the aisle and then he joined the other 'guys' at the altar. As for the first dance, we encouraged the bridal party to dance with their significant other, not the other members of the bridal party. Often it's awkward to put together 2 people who may have only met the day before and make them dance. Everyone in our bridal party (and their SO's) thanked us! Michele

Thanks so much for all your responses. I feel the same way, I didn't want to have more people just so it was even, I really wanted to just have my closest friends, that was all. Well, you helped me make my decision, I will have just the two girls. Thanks again.

I'm having 9 girls and FH is having 5 guys...we'll just have to double up is all...I was confused about having that many people, but I'm 30 and have very established, close relationships with many people. Then I just realized I was lucky to have so many people that I'm close with! It's who you want that's important, not how many you have! Good luck!
