Unhappy with wedding proofs!! :(

My wedding was 9-25 and I recently got my wedding proofs and really, really unhappy with them. I expected alot more, but I guess I didn't know what I wanted until afterwards! I had more traditional photos - more posed. I really love the artisitc ones that I have seen from others.
I had the perfect scenery - the beach - but there was nothing special done with the photos! My photographer gets his pictures printed from a photo lab and we were even missing a great deal of the proofs. We are now going to get them all thank god!

Has anyone had this problem before? Is there anyway another photographer could alter these photos to make them more artistic in any way? so upset:(

i'm so sorry that u feel this way! post some so we could see if you don't mind. If you still feel this way why don't you do a 'day after' shoot with another photographer that u like. Get your hair and makeup done and get a new bouquet (if u want) and take new ones. That way u have both pics from your wedding and then more artistic/non traditional ones that you want.

I am booked with DUET and they are awesome. I just got my epics from them, and they in my album. FM me if u want more info. Hope it all works out but I'm sure you have some great shots of you and DH!!!!

Thanks...yea my husband would never go for that! I wish I would have looked more into different photographers - I didn't really look around or know what I wanted. Well I never got a disc either with the photos...wasn't going to get them until I told him how so many were missing - now I will be getting them. So I have none to show!

I know exactly how you feel because I am in the same situation...my proofs were not what I expected, I didn't get any photojournalistic ones like I asked for, and there are pics that I remember taking that were not in the proofs. I was hoping the album would look better, but I just got the proof of that, and it made me feel worse than the proofs did..it's so upsetting.

I really want to do a 'day after' shoot, but it's not in the budget right now

I don't know what else to tell you other than I completely sympathize.

Ahhh I'm terribly sorry.

I know how you feel!! There was a mishap with my photog and at first I HATED my pics (they only showed awful ones and only 186 of the over 1000 they had).

do you have a Digital copy of them? I think you need that for a photog to touch them up.

Im soo sorry!!!

Usually in order to get a lot of the more photojournalistic style one you need a 2nd photographer.

i would also suggest the day after shoot.

Unfortunately you cant change the photos unless it is minor color changes or editing.

To get the more artistic pictures they would have had to be taken that way.

You can consider a day after shoot and if DH isnt into it maybe just do it yourself.

Im so sorry...i would definitely think about a day after shoot...i know they are giving some away at the Newlywed Luncheon! I was a little disappointed because we didnt get as many proofs as I thought we would have...I loved the ones we had but there were not as many as some of the other girls had. As for the 2 photographers to get photojournalistic i am not sure i agree..we only had one photog but most of our pics were photojournalistic. When you looked at your photographers work were they mainly artistic or were there a lot of posed? We picked ours based on the fact that there werent a ton of posed pictures in her albums..hang in there..I am sure your pictures are gorgeous!

I agree you dont need 2 photogs to get photojournalistic but you need to have picked a photographer that can do both......some photogs specialize in certain types....

If you picked a traditional photog then you wouldnt have the more artistic photos. We specifically picked our photog because of his extremely artistic photos.....I didnt want posed

Karen-I am so with you!! I am totally upset with my proofs too. I have the same issue with the posed pictures, I think it was the particular photographer not the company, bc when i saw their pics it was more of a mix and i was told they will do both. I regret not having 2 photographers or not going with another company!

actually if you have have the digital images I think you can change some things - nothing like poses obviously but to wash the light differently - put finishes etc which can make a big difference. did your photoographer give you the high res images?

also why don't you put a call out to your friends who came to the wedding. . I bet some folks got some amazing shots that would def be more photojournalistic

I'm so sorry... that's such an unfortunate thing to go through!!

I know you mentioned that your DH would not be on board with recreating the day but maybe if you sit down and discuss with him how much that would mean to you, he may change his mind. This is once in a lifetime BUT you can recreate it and capture the pics now before you both change to much.

I don't know if this will make you feel any better, but--- I have been married for over 30 years (now I'm just the MOG)-- my wedding album just has VERY traditional pictures--- when I look at my album, it brings back all the amazing memories I have of that day. So while photo-journalism is beautiful-- I believe in a few years, the pictures will be all about the DAY.
Posed or not posed, retouched or not-- please DO NOT let it upset you.

I know exactly how you feel... I cant tell you how disappointed in my pics I am... I got married in June and have not even thought about the album and dont want to... or the video for that matter but I do agree with someone else that posted... to try a day after shoot. We did and I have to say I love them!!! The catch I had.. was that my day after shoot was with the same photographer and before I got my proofs... so... there were even still some shots that I would have liked to have in the day after that I didnt get.

But - if you dont have a day after booked yet... I would highly recommend doing it and searching around the boards for photographers...

I had the same issue. When we finally picked our 100 for our album, it came out really well and the designer did a good job. I wouldn't recommend my photog to anyone but I did feel like I at least got a final product I can be happy with.
