Unhappy with wedding proofs!! :(

i'm sorry you feel that way! i know exactly how you feel though! we still haven't even ordered our album yet. we have a WHOLE saga regarding our photog and i know how you feel. i was in TEARS when i saw a lot of my pics! i don't have any advice because i have had no luck on my end with our situation. but i just wanted you to know that you're not the only one! and the only thing that has helped me is a little time and distance from the wedding...i'm looking at things with a little less emotion right now, only because i have to ..to decide on pics. but it'll be okay. i'm sure a lot of girls have given some really helpful advice! don't be too sad, you still i'm sure have a lot of beautiful pictures to help you remember, and not to mention all the memories you have!! :o)

It's such a shame because I really feel like this board is supposed to help prevent stuff like this. But girls are so afraid of having a post pulled or getting slammed by other girls using the vendor that they're afraid to post negative comments.

When I posted my initial review, I got a lot of Oh I went to meet with them and got a bad vibe and blah blah blah. Well thanks for letting me know when I asked for feedback 6 MONTHS AGO! A bunch of past brides FM'd me too and said they had bad experiences with my photog. Yet all I could find BEFORE I booked were good reviews. A girl who got married a few months after me had absolutely GORGEOUS artsy looking photos WITH THE SAME COMPANY and same photog! Well I guess my money isn't worth as much as hers was (nothing against her of course). And IMO, an inconsistent photog is worse than a bad one.

Let this be a PSA ladies - be honest without being harsh when you post about a bad experience/vendor so it doesn't get pulled AND if someone posts something negative about one of your vendors, be a big girl and deal with it so other brides may be warned. Maybe you have had a good experience and it'll all be peaches and cream for you but that doesn't mean you're the norm.

I guess he really does have inconsistant work because I just got my proofs back and I LOVE them. I was soooo worried, but they really came out great. There were a lot of traditional photos, but also a good amount of photojournalistic too.

But I agree with you about not being able to see bad reviews. I didn't hear a single bad thing about our photog until well after I booked him, then I was just freaking out that we made a bad decision. In my case, I think it all worked out okay in the end.

I sincerely sympathize There can never be a redo....

I was 'unhappy' with my proofs for a different reason. I hired a really 'artsy fartsy' photographer to cover my wedding (there were actually 2 of them). While I got MANY artistic shots that I really wanted I almost got nothing traditional and some of the family portraits (posed very traditionally didn't come out good at all e.g. a group picture of the whole family has my MIL's face covered by another person who is taller in front and the photographer did not re-pose and re-shot this). My mother-in-law is very traditional in her photography tastes and she's been giving me hell about the lack of 'traditional phones.' She's given me so much grief that now I am considering doing a post wedding shoot just to get traditional shots so I dont have to hear it anymore.
