UNINVITED GUESTS

UNINVITED GUESTS

Why do people think they can invite whoever they want to your wedding?

My FH's aunt was invited with her and her husband only. We are having a black tie formal wedding and I'm not having any children under the age of 18. The only exception is the Flower girl and ring bearer. Well..his aunt rsvp's with 3. She thinks she is going to bring her 11 year old daughter. Now...I have only met his aunt ONCE in 4 years that we are dating,a nd I've never even met her daughter..so they aren't close to us at all. She never came to the engagement party nor my shower. (and she didn't even send a gift..not like that matters but..it's the principal). Now she thinks she is going to invite whoever she wants. This is a WEDDING not a back yard BBQ.

PHEW...sorry for the vent.

I'm sorry to hear that...aren't inlaws fun!! You and your FH are going to have to let her know. And since the both of you are not close with her than don;t let it bother you or your FH to say no to her. It's your wedding have it the way you want not what someone else wants to do. Keep you head up everything will work out.

You need to have your FH call his aunt and explain to her the situation. Tell her there will not be any children under the age of 18 except for RB and FG. He has to make the call unless you are ok with them bringing her now.

Thanks girls.

FH just gets so mad because he hates being put in this uncomfortable position of calling her and telling her because she is an idiot and can't read an invitation properly.

Is he going to stick you with the unwanted task of calling her out on her ballsy behavior?
People have such nerve sometimes it blows my mind!!

...this is my BIGGEST fear...I hope no one does this to me cuz I dont really wanna deal with this type of drama. What is WRONG with people? ugh!

how rude of her! aren't people frustrating sometimes? I don't think you should feel bad for telling her she can't bring her kids. If your close relatives aren't bringing their kids, why should someone you barely know get to bring theirs???

I am worried that this will happen to us also. We are putting an ADULT reception on the invitation but I know that not everyone reads it that closely or quite frankly cares. I hope everything works out for you. I would have FH make the call.

Every bride has to expect this, and also expect to have extra people show up at the reception (bring a credit card !). Guests can be so clueless.
The only thing to do is as JennysMOH said and have FH call his aunt to let her know that it is adults only. No children. Don't even mention the FG and RB - that only leads guests to justify bringing their own children.

This was my biggest fear also..that's why I'm upset. On my invites I also put a line where people put how many attending hoping that they realize the number of people should be no more then invited. Because I was really afraid that they would rsvp and then just show up with an extra person and I wouldn't have a place setting for them. This way at least I can address it before the wedding.

ARGHHHH! Do they not understand BLACK TIE?!! Who would even WANT to bring their child to a black tie affair! Just more $ to shell out

My FHs cousin responded with '& guest' when he clearly was the only one invited so he's gettin a phone call from FH. We know hes just gunna bring some skank [sorry, but its true] who he's probably known for a few days and will never see again anyway. grrrr. call me bridezilla. but I really hate that.

I think its very rude to put uninvited guests on the rsvp, luckily among all the drama ive dealt with b/c of the wedding, i did not have to deal with one of these...well not yet atleast my rsvp date already passed im just missing a few rsvps.

Re: UNINVITED GUESTS

Oh..and between both our families we would of had another 30 kids under the age of 18 if we invited everyone with kids. As it is we have about 12 people between the ages of 18 - 21 so we had to make a cutoff somewhere.

At least there is only one person who did this..it could of been worse.

I feel better just venting.

OMG! I can see my family doing this to me as well. I hate when people do that. I want no kids at my wedding either I hope they can read 'Adult Reception ONLY'.

I would definitely say no. I would say that I'm very sorry, but we are not having children at the wedding and that it just wouldn't be fair to make any exceptions because there are many young relatives and friends that are not going to be there. Good Luck

Re: UNINVITED GUESTS

ahahah i had one too---my friend from my block is in my wedding party and i invited his dad---NOT the sister---we broke ties years ago....
well, the dad got his invite and asked my father if his daughter was invited...my dad said he didn't know and then the guy goes 'well if she wasn't i'll just send her in my place'
IS HE NUTS???
there is a reason why she isn't invited!
HELLLOOOOOO people----

Re: UNINVITED GUESTS

I got one of those 2. My FIL's thought that if someone rsvp'd no...then they can invite another person in their place.
