okay, so the whole polaroid guest book thing is out of my budget and the i'm still undecided about the platter idea
anyone have any other unique ideas for a gb i'll actually look at or cherish?

YES!!! i know what you're talking about now!!! i saw it the other day at ac moores i believe! it's just hard to imagine how she did the mat though with the picture in the middle, she just glued it?
the caricature was from dimple art they are SO awesome!! you just send them your pictures and they send you a nice high resolution pic! the thing i love best about them is you can ask them to redo it a zillion times until you're 100% satisfied! you can take your caricature and put it on tons of products they have too, mousepads, mugs, etc....i just LOVE dimpleart!
anyways, i took the picture, put on the words in photoshop and ordered the magnets off vistaprint
The pict was printed out poster size- so when the people signed, they signed write on the poster and on the picture, just in the blank spaces like, on yours for example, the water, the beach...etc

I got mine off of e-bay, but it is from the guestbookstore.com The guests fill in the pages by drawing pictures of themselves, writing their wishes for the couple, advice, etc.
The website is down right now for construction so I can't even show you what it looks like . . .
First pic is the cover. We picked the picture and what we wanted on it.
Second pic is a vertical pic...
Second pic is a full page horizontal pic...
There is also a page in the beginning where you can put writing, anything you want really...
The quality is great and very fast!! You can lay the pictures out however you want, up to four on a page (obviously the more there are the smaller they are). I am planning to have the guests write on the backs of the pages, or possibly around the pictures if there is room...
Any other questions feel free to ask... We haven't done the actual guest book yet, this was kind of a trial!!
we got the scrapbook from Walmart for like 7 bucks, i have glitter pens and gel pens, and we got a whole bunch of rubber stamps and ink pads (all 'Love' related)... sooooooo cute... so people can be creative with it however they like. We were going to do the polaroid book, but thought it would be too expensive, but then i ended up spending $65 on all the stamps anyway But if you want to use that idea, you can borrow all my stamps!!

We are going to doa wish bowl. People write their advice for the bride and groom on cute paper and put them into these tall vases. Then after you can scapbook them. This is good so more than one person can write at a time.

I am not using a guest book but having everyone sign a picutr frame so that I can hang up after the wedding. You may want to check out http://www.guestures.com/. I think this is a great idea.

We used a wish bowl...the cards will go in an album with our proofs
i like the photomat too, but all the ones i'm finding are too small

I'm doing the traditional gust book with butterflies on it but I'm also doing the casual pic with the huge mat to be signed. The book will be part of the history of the day and all and the picture will go on the wall for a daily rememberance of our wedding

the only reason why we're not doing the album is because it only has 30 pages. Besides that it was just too much money for us to do it (over 100 for a guestbook)...just not in our budget

you have to buy: the camera ---about 40$ film-$22 for a twin pack---you need several of these then the album-adesso albums have pre-cut pages cost 55$ I think but only have 30 pages so you need to buy several albums---entire project easily costs 200$ depending on how much film, how many albums...etc.
