I havent announced my engagement yet and I was hoping to do it on Christmas. I want to suprise my bridesmaids by giving them a jewelry box and having a little note inside that asks if they would be my MOH, BM and let them figure out we're engaged. I want to expand on this idea. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd love to hear how you asked your bridesmaids Thanks!

i just kind of pointed my finger and said: 'you, you, you and you' ha ha ha ha ha i'm having eleven girls. i didn't even think about getting fancy to invite them to participate. it was sort of expected by most of them anyway. i am however planning great things for their bridal party gifts.

I wrote each of them a card, letting them know how important their friendship is to me and asked them that way.

Maybe include a bridesmaid guide or a card from the bridal salon, maybe a poem. Maybe present them a little bo-k- you can either get some fress flowers or get some silks at michaels - then they can save it. Or, some girls have made thank you cards with a replica of the BM dress. You could create an invitation that looks like a wedding invite- check out staples or joanne's/michaels invites you can print yourself.
I know its a little different, but when I took my girls shopping for a dress (they picked out the flowers before the dress), I bought them each a sunflower (that's what they want to carry). It worked out well because my mom didn't think yellow sunflowers would look good with the red dress.
ETA: I love helping people with crafty things if you wanted help.

Maybe put a whole bunch of stuff together in a hat box or something. Now I'm seeing a cardboard/cray paper box, painted with a nice ribbon trim in the BM dress color or an ivory. Maybe a little charm or something. I have a bridesmaid worksheet from some of my wedding planning stuff, with each girls names/ phone numbers. Also has a list of bridal activitites (e-party, shower, rehearsal) and a list of things to pack for the wedding (stockings, shoes, bra) If you FM me your address I'll mail you a copy.

I asked each of my BM's individually over lunch, dinner or drinks and gave them a 'Will You be my Bridesmaid' card from Itty Bitty Ink. www.ittybittyink.com (link thing isn't working).

wow, you're all so creative. I was going to come out & just ask my cousin at Christmas & call my other cousin ( she 's in San Diego)
