Unique stores in Manhattan

Original post by Gonnacatchapeacock

Manhattan is full of so many stores (obviously!) and some of them we have here on Long Island (lol, like the GAP, Crate and Barrel, etc)

Just wondering - do you know of any good stores that are totally unique to the city that you really like to go to? Why? and where is it located??? :) :) :) :)

2 of my favortie stores closed during this insane recent commericalization of 8th street. There are some really amazing stores in the village. In HS we used to shop at Religious Sex and Trash and Vaudeville. Also Yellow Rat *******. I'd never wear those clothes now. It's also fun to talk in the West Villagem, there are some neat stores tucked away. And there's a plethora of awesome t shirts and *ahem* paraphrenailia. OOOHHHHHHHH Love Saves the Day. It's on something like 11th and 1st. they have all of these amazing old toys.

ooooh, I used to love going to religious sex. now that we don't *club* anymore, no excuse to buy 9' platform boots and velvet bustiers!

There's the Urban Outfitters in the city, one on 14th street-they have great stuff, clothing, vingage, books, house stuff, men's trinkets...or walk around SoHo, they have great boutiques.

There is a little boutique on 44th b/t 9th and 10th called LYD that is right down the block from where I live in the city that I love. It is not cheap, but they have some cute unique stuff there.
