Re: Unique Weddings

Since we are bikers, our 'theme' is all harley davidson. HD cake cutting set, HD keep garter, HD cake topper, matchbooks with motorcycles on them, we're using goblet place card holders, I want my dad to do a special blessing for us, since I lost both my grandfathers I want to do a special dance with his grandfather, our best man and matron will be married 4 years in October the year of our wedding so we're going to play their wedding song and have them and us dance to it, their is one special song my dad and I used to sing and I am going to have that played, going to have my uncle sing for us at the reception, and I am not sure what else we'll be doing

Re: Unique Weddings

we didn't do anything unusual...but we did something that was true to ourselves...

since our wedding hall had great gardens...our theme was a 'summer garden' and everything revolved around that...summer flowers and green (for grass) and yellow(for sun)...the tables were named after flowers...etc...

We are doing a 'perfect pair' wedding....so there will be a pear theme. Kind of a play on words....we are going to have pear place card holders. The first course salad will have pears in it. The invitations have pears on them. There will be a bunch of desserts that are pear related. The table card holder will be a little pear tree. THe tables will be named after pears....I havent decided the flowers yet but I want to relate them to pears somehow. And maybe two pears ice scultpures...havent decided yet....And the favors will either be pear candles or something else pear related...So...that is our theme...ya think the guest will get it?

We are having a beach theme. So all the place cards with be attached to shells, the tables with be named after LI lighthouses, centerpieces are round trays of seashells, sand, beach glass with a Mikasa lighthouse in the center. Our cake will be full of seashells and sand(brown sugar) with a dolphin bride and groom cake topper. The favors are glass bowls with sand, green beach glass, seashells and on top of the bowls are a smaller candle holder with a hunter green candle in it. The favor tags are a beach background that say ' A Gift from the Sea', with our names and date.
We are having our ceremony at Port Jefferson CC too, so we will be having a dove release over looking the water.

• We had a choice of six (6) entrées: Veal, Sea Bass Mediterranean, Chicken Boscaiola, Eggplant Parmigiana, Filet Mignon, or Muscovy Duck Chambord. All guests including ourselves can choose their entrées on the day of the wedding rather than having to write it on their RSVP card which is good because people can always change their mind about food. What if you’re not in the mood for eggplant on the day of the wedding but were in the mood a month ago?

• We had wedding newsletters published and distributed monthly to our wedding party members updating our wedding plans and secrets. Twelve (12) newsletters total, one special newsletter designed specifically to our OOT guests.

• Our programs had a poem about our love for each other, and a photo during our courtship. (Pics are in my bio.)
• We had 2 delicious and beautiful wedding cakes, one from our reception site and the other from DH’s aunt. It was a Lithuanian wedding cake to incorporate our cultural background on our wedding day and DH’s aunt was very generous to share it with 150 guests.

• We had clear labels printed for our guests’ names on the seating cards to look elegant and neat rather than hand written.

• We had 2 foam poster boards which was displayed on an easel next to our card table and the other in front of MOB’s house for our Post-Wedding Party the next day. It has our names, date and photos of us individually and as a couple together symbolizing the idea of “two become one.”

• Our reception has 2 gazebos in the outdoor garden.
• Our reception’s outdoor garden has a fake but elegant small wishing well.
• We incorporated our cultural backgrounds into our wedding day with a Lithuanian blessing. The Elements of Life given to us from our parents: bread, wine, and salt. Bread symbolizes there will always be food on the table, wine for the sweetness in life, salt for the bitterness in the marriage. DH is half Lithuanian.

• On the same topic of incorporating our cultural background on our wedding day: I wore Chinese bridal jewelry. Two Chinese gold bracelets, half moon necklace (this is a wedding gift from my aunt that symbolizes a Chinese matchmaker which I have found my soul mate) and a jade bracelet. Pics are in my bio.

• One of my bridesmaid took the mic and sang her heart out to us. She sang “From This Moment On” by Shania Twain which I love that song, perfect song for us! I’ve never seen any wedding party members sing at a wedding.

• Our reception site has a reputable history that was built to serve as a summer residence of Rudolph Valentino until his death in 1926 and later purchased by Former Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia as a summer Gracie Mansion. It then was transformed into a restaurant after Mayor LaGuardia’s death.

We are having an Irish theme so one thing we are doing is having the Emerald society Pipe & drum Band perform. The band will also play lots of Irish music as well as our kind of songs.
