Unique/Different Wedding Venues

Original post by bluehevn22

Just thought I would throw this question out there, especially to those of you who have been looking or have looked....I would really like to do something other than your typical RH. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Looking at Long Island and maybe the Queens area!

FYI - I have already checked out Citi-Field and The Museum of Natural History

omg! i loved the vanderbuilt museum in centerport...but didnt know they dont allow weddings there anymore....i wanted to book it but it was expensive. They only let you use the place and you have to cater it yourself etc.

The Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport is still doing weddings. It's the Vanderbilt Mansion on the campus of Dowling College in Oakdale that isn't doing weddings after June 2011. I was booked there for July 2012 and got bounced! Back to square 1. Sigh...

I also looked into a bunch of different places, TMNH would have been my dream place, but family nixed the city. Nassau County Museum of Art was definitely over $100 pp. As were most of the wineries we looked at. We looked at Hallockville Farm as well but bringing in your own caterer, tent, bathrooms, linens etc really added up!

Maybe try Martha Clara vineyards, I know lessings owns them now so you may not have to bring in all your own stuff.

I looked at Queens County Farm Museum for my wedding and I loved it. ..It was the first place I looked at. Unfortunately, it was too small for our guest list of 200 people. I also looked at the Hallockville Farm museum, Martha Clara vineyards, Coindre Hall, and Bourne Mansion. I found this great place out in Greenport called the Portly Grape. It is an awesome Inn and Restaraunt. It is on four acres of land and it is surrounded by a vineyard. The grounds are beautiful, the interior restauraunt is so eccelctic and vintage and the food is fabulous. Denise is so wonderful too. i am not going to book there because it cann not accomodate my guest list, but if you have 150 or below. I suggest you look there. FM me if you want pics of the place(website does it no justice) or info on prices.

def try atlantis!!!! My friends got married there this past april and everything was GREAT! The food was sooooo good and I'm pretty sure they were on a tight budget so I don't think the prices were too bad

I thought it was such a cool wedding!!! good luck!

Old Field Club!!!

We had the same issues, we looked at 15 different halls and fell in love with OFC. It's on the water, you're the only wedding the whole day, they are cooking just for you, very flexible and easy to work with.
