Unique/Different Wedding Venues

Unique/Different Wedding Venues

Just thought I would throw this question out there, especially to those of you who have been looking or have looked....I would really like to do something other than your typical RH. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Looking at Long Island and maybe the Queens area!

FYI - I have already checked out Citi-Field and The Museum of Natural History

Well that's the thing...we are not sure yet b/c we don't have a set guest list...I guess I am trying to stay somewhere under or around $100 per person total...is that doable with an alternative place??

The Foundry in Long Island CIty is gorgeous- there is a site fee and you do have to bring in your own caterer. Also look at Nassau County Museam of Art ~ im in my search too but $100 pp is so not doable for a unique venue as most of the time you have to bring in your own caterer.

we looked into vineyards.. they are crazy ... I'm talking like a $15K site fee!! PLUS the cost per person!!!

Nassau County Museum of Art (VERY small space, but awesome idea), Old Westbury Gardens, The Vanderbilt Mansion, most of these places have a venue fee on top of everything else. NCMA was reasonable, same with OWG, but the Vanderbilt is RIDIC (and gorgeous)!

Unfortunately, ITA. $100 pp is pretty tough for a unique place. I looked at everything- everything under the sun and eventually (begrudgingly) wound up at JT only to find out later how happy I was that we did end up there. An alternative venue is different and unique, but it gets expensive and feels like twice the work since most often you have to hire caterers, wait staff, coat check, bathroom attendants, valets- even rent tables, chairs, plates, silverware, linens, etc. With a RH like JT- they KNOW what they are doing and they do it well! Good luck in your search!

omg! i loved the vanderbuilt museum in centerport...but didnt know they dont allow weddings there anymore....i wanted to book it but it was expensive. They only let you use the place and you have to cater it yourself etc.
