I was just wondering if anyone else is doing the Unitiy sand Ceremony in place of the Unitiy Candle? The Rev. that is marrying us had suggested it to us since we are planning to have the ceremony outside...he said that sometimes the candles don't light because of the wind. The bride and the groom would each have their own glass vase...the brides is filled with white sand and the grooms is filled with black sand....they pour their sand into a 3rd vase....the concept is that once you mix the sand togther you can never seperate it. My fiance really liked this idea...and since its really the only request he has had...i thought why not. I found 3 beautiful interlocking vases that I am having engraved for the ceremony. I think that they 3 vases will make beautiful decorations on our mantle.

Re: Unitiy Sand Ceremony
I ordered the Vases from Patchoge Floral... If you plan on including the parents in the ceremony...then the groom parents pour the black sand in 1st...then brides parents pour in the white sand....then there is decrative paper funnel placed in the large vase...and the bride and groom pour both the white and black sand in together at the same time. The Bride's Vase has her 1st initial engraved on it, the grooms has his 1st initial and the middle vase is mongramed...Bride 1st intial, the 1st initial of their last name, and then the groom 1st initial.

different roses colors represent a different feeling. this is the first gift exchanged between you and your signifacant other. the officant will explain that and how each year you will renew this symbol in a certain place each year in your house in a speical place (say a mantle or somthing). Also if you are at a lose for words and somthing bad happens, you can but a rose thier and this will let the other person knows, i'm sorry or somthing like that. i didn't explain it good but it was very touching. i will send you the word document once i get home, if i remember.. (send me a fm)
