FH and I originally planned to do the Unity Candle...I tried to make one...ugly....I went shopping...pricey and I know we'll just throw it in a box March 1st....we loved the sand ceremony where you pour the sand into a frame around your pic....I don't want to be crafty and they seem to be VERY expensive....any other unique ideas for that part of the ceremony?!?!?!

kidding aside-
What about a 'roping' or tieing? that I think I saw in vintagebride's album. It is where they lay a rope over your hands to symbolize always being connected-

we had irish handfasting in the ceremony too....while beautiful it seemed slightly like bondage in front of my friends and family.....it has since been removed from the ceremony.....

we're doing a sand ceremony.
One cup holds your colored sand. One cup holds his colored sand (must be different colors).
You pour at the same time both of your sands into a glass vase or something along those lines....end of story..
Our items are in my albums - for the ceremony.

honestly you don't need to do a crafty picture frame at all! our sand ceremony --- for the holders, double heart container and sand--cost less than $30
i found a container on ebay--two hearts---and we just put 2 cylinder shaped glasses from michael's and the sand from ad moore!
the sand container is sitting in a cabinet now with other wedding stuf

that's why i don't want to do that....our friends have their sand container covered in dust on a shelf...our other friends have the unity candle in a cabinet somewhere....
i liked the frame bc we could hang it on the wall for years to come...but it's like $80...this wedding crap is ridiculous!

wedding channel has a page on wedding customs by country- you might be able to find something in your culture or FH's that will be cool- our priest was mentioning one that the irish do- at the time it sounded nice, i just cant remember what it was old age is ruining my memory
my cousin is doing somethign where the mothers each come down the aisle with a single rose and they put them into a vase on the alter...
something like that
