I had the same issue so I made mine. It was seriously the easiest DIY of the whole wedding. I bought the white pillar candle from michaels, sheets of self adhesive vellum (michael's sold them in packs of 5), ribbon & an adhesive roller (in the scrapbook section of craft stores). I made a monogram in powerpoint and then printed it on the vellum, cut it to fit the candle, applied the adhesive glue roller on the seam of the vellum and attached it to the candle. Then I lined the ribbon with the adhesive roller and attached it on the top and bottom seams where the vellum meets the candle. Here's the end result:

I think hot glue might melt the wax... I could be wrong... I'm not crazy crafty or anything...

Have you looked at www.myjeanm.com

They have some pretty nice stuff...

Re: unity candle...

I used ribbon, a string of pearls, seashells and double-sided tape. I used the doube-sided tape for the wide ribbon, then used a glue gun to adhere the pearls to the edge of the ribbon and the seashells (see pics in DIY album). Like a previous poster said it was one of the easiest DIY projects I wouldn't use the glue gun to adhere the vellum or ribbon to the candle because it doesn't stay (tried this already lol!).

If you make your own i would use glue dots instead of a hot glue gun.
