aww we have the same wedding date, just a year apart! when you are celebrating your 1 year anniversary, i will be taking the plunge!

how does that work?
You have one large vase and FH and you each have different colored sand in smaller vases. As the officiant reads about the meaning behind it, each of you take turns (or you can do it simultaneously) pouring your container of sand into the larger vase. Like the unity candle, it represents unity between you and FH.
