Unity Candle Substitute
I just went on UW and found a substitution for the unity candle ceremony. It is called 'The Blessing of the Hands.' Anyone heard of it? What do you think? Do you think priests will have a problem doing this instead of lighting the unity candle? Thanks

We are doing a rose presentation instead of the unity candle
basically, we are both going to walk over to each set of parents and present them with a rose - as a symbol of our love and unity to our new family! I never heard of the blessing of the hands - ask your priest, he should be able to tell you if they will do it! But we are not getting married in the Church and have a little more leeway that way! Good Luck

We are doing a rose/unity candle...
My FH and are are kind of combining the two. Near the beginning of the ceremony, we are having our mothers light the tapers, then walking over to them and presenting them with roses. Later in the ceremony, we will use the tapers to light the unity candle. This will represent a true joining of two families. We haven't received the first draft of the ceremony yet, but we are not doing a blessing of the rings, but moreso a blessing of the hands, with the rings on them...good luck!

Blessing of the Hands/Brides Hands
I have seen this done as a final reading, after the vows in a Catholic ceremony. The bride and groom also had the unity candle/rose ceremony. It a beautiful poem but personally I find it a tear jerker so I wouldnt include it.Welcome New Vendors
