Re: Unity Candle Vs. Sand Ceremony
Well I already brought the unity candle with the holders and everything..but now that I think about it I dont know if it will be a great idea because I am getting married outside. So, I started thinking about switching to the sand...but I really like the unity candle..so if you are getting married inside, I would go with the unity candle

We're doing the sand ceremony since we're getting married outside. I didn't want to risk the wind blowing out the candles.

There is an actual ceremony? I mean I know you use the sand but I just figured it was the same ceremony (wording) as candles only they use sand. Can you please give me more info? Like what do you put the sand in? Where do you get the sand? Where can I find the ceremony (wording)? Sorry to ask so many questions but this was another thing on my mind.

I just always love the unity candle ceremony it was always just dramatic for me to watch at wedding. Watch the groom and bride light the candle together just romatic. why dont you do both?

I just bought the vases and sand at AC Moore. I think everything cost me a total of $20. Here's the text that we're using in our ceremony:
Laura & Michael, today you join your separate lives together. The two separate bottles of sand symbolize your separate lives, separate families and separate sets of friends. They represent all that you are and all that you’ll ever be as an individual. They also represent your lives before today. As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand, can never be separated and poured again back into the original containers so will your married lives never be separated.

I'm old-fashioned.... NEITHER
Neither are part of a traditional Catholic (or Christian) ceremony....
I know, I'm a kill-joy...

Re: Unity Candle Vs. Sand Ceremony
we did the sand ceremony cause i just felt like it was more us....this is the exact wording that our officiant did:
“Melissa and Peter-you have committed here today to share the rest of your lives with each other. This beautiful union is symbolized through the combining of these two individual containers of sand. The first container represents you Peter, and all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and the next represents you Melissa, and all that you are and all that you will ever be. Each one holds its own unique beauty, strength, and character. They can stand on their own and be whole, without need of anything else. However when these two are blended together- they create an entirely new and extraordinarily more intricate entity. Each grain of sand brings to the mixture a lasting beauty that forever enriches the combination. Please pour the sand into this vessel to symbolize the union of the Castillo and Boneta family spirits. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be a molding of these two individual personalities, bonded together forming one heart, one love, and one family. The life that each of you experienced now, individually, will hereafter be inseparably united, for the two shall become one!”

Re: Unity Candle Vs. Sand Ceremony
Unity candle because I've always loved the idea of doing that and plus we're getting married in a church, so no wind. Now, if we were doing an out doors wedding, I probably would have gone for the sand.
