unreturned messages

unreturned messages

since so few places are actually upfront about prices and guarantees on their websites and brochures, i've been calling around, and in most cases, leaving messages. I left messages at 6 different reception venues on Monday, and I have yet to hear back from more than ONE (and they only called to give me a direct number for the catering manager, who has also failed to call me back).

am i seriously supposed to feel comfortable putting my wedding in the hands of people who can't even return a simple message???

i think you have every right to be annoyed. but bear in mind these venues have to deal with multiple people at a time and they usually commission just a few banquet managers to handle these cases. i don't think 2-3 days is excessive but over a week, yes. i think the best thing to do is to just follow up on your phone calls.

I personally have no patience for things like this so I had FH call all the halls to get base pricing. They were very reluctant but we told them we were from out of town and he eventually got answers. Some places were way better about getting back to us than others. For a few of them, we just showed up on a Saturday. They prefer appointments, but they helped us!
Good luck...I know it's very frustrating.

What times are you calling the venues? We didn't have any problem reaching BMs on the telephone -- but we did have a problem with the places we had to leave messages.

if its business hours they should answer when u call!! if u are leaving a message strictly asking for the price they may not call back. they want u to come in so that u fall in love with the place and price wont matter. wedding business is mean! i am not impressed by people who do not call back. also when u start looking i think the place should be as beautiful that day as the day of your wedding - for example i saw a place that was a mess - wedding from night before - but another one in a few hours - i couldn't imagine it being ready in time - you'll find the right place. keep looking. weddings are big and these halls have good business so i dont think they feel the need to call you (Sad) and yet its the venders that contact you constantly by phone, mail and email that i'd stay away from.
