unstamped rsvp's - what do you think?

Original post by kewlpuff

i'm starting to get a bit tight on cash and am wondering what you guys think about not putting a return stamp on the rsvp's. most of our friends will probably rsvp via email and won't bother with the rsvp either... but i feel stingy not putting a stamp on the rsvp. what do you guys think?

Ill be honest-PUT a stamp on them.
I had about 10 invitations come back to me...bad move, I rushed them out and those 10 went out without stamps on the RSVP envelope totally and completely embarrassed by not paying more attention. Guests put stamps on them but I was completely horrified that I had overlooked this.

I would not do that....If you leave it up to them to get the stamp and RSVP on time, you might wind up calling people who haven't responded....It's easier to respond when all you have to do is check yes or no on the response....HTH

don't do it! i know it stinks, it's an added cost, but it looks tacky without one and you're lucky if you get them back on time WITH a stamp, so this may really screw up your response rate.

I wouldn't leave off the stamp I feel it's a tacky thing to do.

By accident I left one off (DH's fault btw because he stamped the RSVP envelopes) and fortunately for me it was a member of the bridal party (my MoH). If it had been someone else I would have felt twice as bad.

Definitely put the stamps on the rsvp envelopes. It cost us an extra 40 dollars to do it...I think it was worth it!!

hello ladies~ i think i'll put the stamp back on

another question though... if you had out of country guests, what do you do with their rsvp's?

Edit: does anyone know when the rates are going up also?

JMO Get the stamps. You can buy right now the forever stamps and once the price goes up you can still use them even though you paid less. Get what I mean. Not some where I would cut. JMO

I would put stamps on the people that live far away. I would let the people that I see often just personally hand the to me. That will cut some cost.

For my out of country guests, i got my aunt in Ireland to mail me Irish air mail stamps and i then put those on their response envelopes.

My wedding invitiation to Ireland was more than a $1.00 due to its size and weight. Air Mail stamps are NOT going up IF they are an ounce or less...and right now that stamp is .90. in reality, your invite will be heavier than that, so it will be more. i would think you would be paying at least a $1.50 per international invite. they weighed mine and put the computer sticker on them.

Eh...well, technically it's the guests responsibility to make sure s/he gets the RSVP to you. (Back in the day, RSVP cards weren't even used--guests were supposed to RSVP with their personalized stationery, complete with family crest. LOL!)

On the other hand, you're (general 'you') inviting them to your own celebration, you know? I agree with the others to include postage unless it's for overseas guests.

Compared to the other expenses of a wedding, postage is going to be minimal.

for out-of-country guests I am not putting postage on the return envelope...it's completely useless to them, so what's the point.

But, for domestic guests, i'm definitely putting postage.
