FH and I cannot see ourselves dancing to the typical slow love song, it's just not us. But we are having trouble coming up with something that will be 'danceable' and appropriate. Is anyone else considering something different or could make a suggestion?

I went to a wedding about 2 months ago and the bride and groom where introduced to 'My first My last My everything' and when they made it to the middle of the dance floor they just started dancing and then the DJ told everyone to get up and dance. It was different.

that is great!! can you imagine praticing for that!!
That is one of the most awesome things I've ever seen.
we're thinking of doing a salsa or chacha for our first dance, like Oye Como Va by Tito Puente.

A few of the wedding I have been to had upbeat songs. Here are the first dance songs I cab remember.
What I Like About You-The Romantics Get Down Tonight- KC and The Sunshine Band For Once In My Life- Stevie Wonder Gimme Some Lovin- Spencer Davis Group
The guests loved the songs and it set the tone for a great night

FH doesn't really dance so we picked a faster song that we LOVE and may not be so traditional.

We are not big fans of corny mushy music either...As of now we have chosen 'Can't Help Falling in Love' - The Remake by Eddie Veder (Pearl Jam) LOVE IT!!!!
We are also going to have the DJ invite everyone in ASAP, so we are not out there too long on our own...

ahahah thanks for posting that...ive been saying from the beginning i want to do something very similar...To do a nice slow dance song and then FH and I to break out dancing into a fast upbeat song
