I came across a website that send invites in a bottle...it's kind of cool...though I don't remember the name, and I had it bookmarked, but my hard drive got a virus a while ago and I lost everything! Try a search for message in a bottle if you are interested and see what comes up! Good luck!!
I am a sunday afternoon too, but I don't think that means less traditonal...the sat night wedding is actually quite modern...
I got my invites from www.johannaswedding.dk I absolutely love them...they are hand made and beautiful and not your typical wedding invite...but they are on the more pricey side...

I did a message in a bottle for my save the date. It was a HUGE hit. I bought the bottles and shipping tubes from this website:

You can print the message yourself on parchment paper, roll it up and tie it with a piece of twine. I did see companies that will do the message for you, but they all seemed to be pretty expensive...like $20 a bottle. I paid about $1 per bottle and $1 per shipping tube. It got to be kind of expensive though because postage was $3.50 per bottle.
