UPDATE!! Cake

How much did your 'included' cake wnd up costing?

It looks like if I get the cake I want (which is nothing fancy) Its going to wind up costing me almost $400.

So much for being included in my RH per person price!!

UPDATE:

Well I met with Tom at Black Forest Bakery last night and decided just to go with the buttercream and save myself the money.

So we are having chocolate cake with alternating layers of raspberry and chocolate mousse filling with off white butterrcream icing. The layers will alternate between having a chocolate scroll design and having a sage green ribbon around the base with a row of pearls.

The only thing I'm concerned about it the raspberry filling- I wanted a linzer-tart like raspberry filling but he said that it may be too tart and thick for a cake filing and suggested I use the raspberry 'fruit filling' that he usually uses in cakes. I don't usually like that fruit/gel cake and pie filling.

I may ave him make me a small sample cake.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know!

Nothing extra.

We got to design it ourselves and could have anything we wanted. The baker is amazing, too - we had incredible choices.

I'm meeting with the bakery this afternoon- but according to their website fruit filling is $1 per person extra, fondant or ganache is $1.50 per person extra.

They even charge extra if you want square layers instead of round!!!

I'm not sure if these charges apply to cakes that are supposedly included with the RH package or if they are additional costs added to the base price of one of their cakes if you just order through them without the RH....

We are going through Black Forest Bakery...anyone know?

Our RH has maybe 2 dozen cakes that are included, and then there's another whole section in the book of cakes that are extra. I dont' care if it's filled with Kozy Shack pudding, I'm not paying another dime.

thats how i feel, I'm taking what they give me, no one really enjoys it anyway!! And I can't say i even remember what anyone elses wedding cake ever looks like after I leave a wedding

Mine was nothing extra...but my grammy is spending over $600 on another cake for me. Because my family is 'west India' , we have a special rum cake that me make for weddings....so along with the cake that came with our RH package (the cake that will be served to our guests), we will have my rum cake (see pic below).

Ours wasn't anything extra--but we had cupcakes instead of a cake. However, I've heard of people being charged more for cupcakes. We weren't--had three different flavors, three different colors of icing, three different flowers, and a really nice tower to display them.

Maybe it depends on the hall?

Wait Why would they Charge you $400.00 Thats insane if its included with the RH i mean 50 bucks okay but 400.00 thats crazy I would tell the Bakery to send the Bill to the RH

yeah i know, we decided to serve the RH cake just in case ppl won't like my rum cake (and and decide to throw it away) . Plus we already know what we're doing with the rum cake...1st tier for 1 year anniversay, 2nd tier to send to FH family that are in Poland, 3rd and 4th tier for my family....
