it is true they charge you 1.50 for ganache or fondant, but the fruit filling was free. its extra for like cannoli or anything like that.

That's crazy- I hate buttercream and really wanted white chocolate ganache....but I'm not sure its worth the extra $300

I'm meeting with the bakery this afternoon- but according to their website fruit filling is $1 per person extra, fondant or ganache is $1.50 per person extra.

They even charge extra if you want square layers instead of round!!!

I'm not sure if these charges apply to cakes that are supposedly included with the RH package or if they are additional costs added to the base price of one of their cakes if you just order through them without the RH....

We are going through Black Forest Bakery...anyone know?

You are lucky!!!!! Black forest bakery is awesome. Hands down yummy stuff!!! My sister had a cake from them for her wedding and it was soo great! I don't know about their pricing but their cakes are amazing.

How much did your 'included' cake wnd up costing?

It looks like if I get the cake I want (which is nothing fancy) Its going to wind up costing me almost $400.

So much for being included in my RH per person price!!

Mine was nothing extra...but my grammy is spending over $600 on another cake for me. Because my family is 'west India' , we have a special rum cake that me make for weddings....so along with the cake that came with our RH package (the cake that will be served to our guests), we will have my rum cake (see pic below).

Gorgeous! And rum cake is so delish

Re: Cakes included in package from Black Forest Bakery

We are getting our through Black forest (CLM). We met with Tom (the baker...at least I think that's his name). We are doing buttercream frosting and filling but have asked for a square shaped fountain cake which will have the 3 layered cake in the middle with the pillars, bridges to 2 two-layer square cakes then bridges from those to 2 single layer cakes.
Tom was great and gave us his input .

The only thing that may cost us extra is if CLM doesn't have the bridges. Otherwise, it's included in the package.
Hope that helps!!
By the way, we bought a cake there just to try it and it was spectacular!!!!

Re: Cakes included in package from Black Forest Bakery

our RH uses Black Forest. We were told Fondant would be more $$$. So buttercream it is. (I read that actually that looks better when it's cut because the fondant cracks into pieces.)
We have a choice of yellow or chocolate cake only; nothing exotic and all layers are that cake, no mix or match. We could choose 2 fillings. We picked chocolate mousse and raspberry and the BM suggested that they taste yummy combined. But that's our 2 choices so the whole cake is that. I asked for buttercream flowers on the entire top instead of a topper and more flowers spiraling down the front and she said ok to that. and there is scrolling design on the sides of the layers in contrasting color. We didn't pay extra for any of it.

from my experience, try to avoid spending too much on the cake. We spent $800 on our cake. (IT was NOT included in the pkg. and we had to go to a bakery for it.) It looked great, tasted great, but I dont think anyone even ate it. I asked afterwards what people thought.....nobody even ate it. It looks great in pictures though!

Re: UPDATE!! Cake

Leonard's did offer us a cake at no cost, however we did not like it so we opted to pay extra for our cake. We paid $600, which I consider reasonable considering the style. I have seen simple wedding cakes, as much as $1000. If your hall is offering you a cake for $400, and they said it's 'included' I would question it....

Re: UPDATE!! Cake

Perhaps it is costing more b/c you want fondant icing instead of another icing like buttercream or whipcream? A lot of halls include a cake in the price of your wedding but they note that if you want fondant it is extra.

Some Halls include fondant-- but most, that we looked at, did not. Our Hall does include fondant so we are getting a very nice cake with fondant icing and a special scroll design with bows cascading and it's not costing us anything extra- we got very lucky.
