Let me just state, I am not vendor bashing OK now after several calls, I get a call back from the company saying they could drop the taxes and give me this 'discount'. I told them its too late, I'm not satisfied and want my deposit back. I didn't appreciate the run around, and it seems they are too disorgainized for me. They went on and on saying they did everything they could to make me happy, but unfortunately it was not enough.
I am supposed to be getting a full refund of my deposit put back on the card.
I am booking with my preferred florist this Friday and they told me I'll have a contract in my hands 5 days after.
Thanks for listening ladies--Wish me luck! --------------------------------------------------------------------
I was wondering,
I gave a deposit to hold my date to a vendor, and then a week and a half later they still haven't written me a contract. I keep calling and not getting anywhere. Now they're telling me the price I thought we'd agreed upon is just a subtotal and doesn't include taxes.
I don't want to spend anymore money than we've already agreed to.
Now I'm thinking of cancelling with them, but I want my deposit of $200 dollars back (paid in Credit)
Again there never was a contract and I haven't signed a thing yet.
Do you think I can get the deposit back?
Help please

Re: Cancelling a vendor?
If you did not sign a contract then you should be able to get your deposit back- If you paid wih American Express you should be able to stop the charge...I am not sure if other credit card companies will do this. Personally I would go speak to the vendor in person.

Re: Cancelling a vendor?
Speak with the vendor and tell them that you would like your deposit back. Since you haven't signed anything beyond a credit card receipt, they should give it back to you.
Worst case, call your credit card company and tell them the story. They should be able to cancel the charge for you or dispute it.
Good Luck!

I think if you speak to them they have to give you your money back. You won't be breaking a contract because you don't have one. Good Luck though!

Re: Cancelling a vendor?
Thanks, this vendor is playing phone tag with me. I called yesterday, they called back today but ended the call quickly and said they'd call back at 4:30 now its 5:45 and no call...
Ugh I'm not happy I thought this was settled already!

Re: Cancelling a vendor?
You should be able to get every penny because you did not sign a contract and according to what they said after the fact they did not fully enclose the entire amount or they changed the price since you gave them the deposit. Either way the law is on your side.

Me too... It is terrible that people like this exist. I would call the CC company and stop the charge immediately and explain what happened to them, and also report them to the BBB. Is there someplace on here to complain as well? Well..if you can FM me the vendor / name....I would appreciate it.
Sorry you are going through this.

Do you mind FMing the vendor to me too. I know this might not be indicative of their work, I'd just like the heads up

Re: UPDATE Cancelling a vendor?
Add another person to FM to your list...I would really like to know what company has such bad business practices.
You should call your CC company and let them know there is a fraudlent charge on your account, you never recieved and good/service for the charge and want it taken off of your account. It usually takes about 6 weeks for the charge to be credited to you.
