UPDATE! FH found the earring! I could cry right now...

FH and I are sitting watching a movie upstairs when all of a sudden we hear a loud crash from our bedroom. We run downstairs as our cat, Dude, is running up. He knocked over my jewelry box. My jewelry box had my mother's cameo earrings she gave me in them. The ones I am suppose to be wearing for the wedding!!!!! And of course, we start collecting all the jewelry off the floor, and I can't find one of the earrings!!!

Our floor is also uneven (the buildings really old). I am convinced the earring fell through one of the cracks in the floor..........

I so completely want to cry right now. My mother gave them to me, they were going to be my something old. I am so crushed.

UPDATE:

FH found the earring!!!

It had fallen through a crack in the floor and was caught between the subflooring and the basement. He got the landlord to let him in to the basement area. He battled cobwebs galore, and had to crawl along the dirt floor, but he FOUND IT! He's my hero! The earrings are going back to mom's jewelry box til the wedding day. Dude's too much of a troublemaker to keep them at our place.

What kind of building do you live in? Could you get the super to help you out? Do you have money for someone to mess with your floors? I'm assuming not...

Do you have a lot of stuff on your floor? I would really just scour the area and look and look and look - get a flashlight for every nook and cranny, and then if nothing happens, then see if the super will help you out... where do you live?

We got down on all fours with flashlights and scoured the floor. It's just not appearing anywhere! Seriously, we are calling the landlord and asking what we can do about it. I want that earring. It's such an important, sentimental thing to me!

We live in Sea Cliff, and the building still has all the original flooring and tin cealings, etc. So, there are lifts and cracks everywhere.

If FH has to start tearing up the floor, I won't stop him!
