update-Making own B &G album?! Graphic Design/printer companies????
so far- fh has found a canadian company that does self-publishing wedding books which we may get a quote for, but then i started thinking..and for my BA graduation we had a party and my uncle had a photo album made for me from kodak. and so i thought hmmmm
so i checked out the kodakgallery.com web page and they do make 'legacy 12 x 14- leather bound, heavy acid-free photo paper and professional binding' starting at $70 - it looks like we design it on the computer and send it to them-but i didnt sign up for the site yet-so i don't know exactly.
Looking at the page- it looks like my uncle paid $30 for my classic photo book which is lovely so i would imagine the legacy album is such as nice. And some photography studios have the 1 photographer, 8 hour, all proofs package for about $1700 --- very in budget. and worse comes to worse- we go back to the photographer and have them make a book for $ 800 - i think the difference is going to be the paper but i am okay with that.

We have been meeting with photographers. I like them all but my fiance is being such a pain. He really believes he, since he is a graphic designer is familiar with printing companies and want to just hire a photographer with proofs and then call a printer company and make our album ourselves. he thinks it will be cheaper cutting out the middleman. anyone else do this? is this REALLY possible? He is going to find out this week by calling printer companies. I just want to book and not worry about it.
I said we can maybe make parent albums that way or something. I do not think we'll save much. the type of book we want is $800 and then for the day -1 photographer - would be total of $2500 and I think thats great! Cant get lower than that and this is NOT the vendor to go cheapo over. What do you all think?
HELP!
