OK, so for those of you who already know......I am planning to purchase my gown this week. I feel in LOVE with the Jim Hjelm dress Style#8611. Well, the price tag was higher than I wanted to spend. The bridal store can give it to me for $2500.
Well, my MOH was looking online and found this store. I need your HONEST opinions on this one girls. This is the same dress (inspired). The only difference is the beading work (I would ask them NOT to do the beading work they have pictured and used silver and clear beads like the original), the fabric, but I can get them to make it with Silk Satin and the price.........it's only $499.99! It will be higher with the changes I want.
But visually, what do you think? Could it pass as the original??????
Thanks girls........no matter what I do, the order has to be placed this week...........
I can't see the difference, and neither will any of your guests. However, IMHO, I wouldn't try to 'pass' it off as the original...why lie? I would just say it's a custom made dress, inspired by XYZ.
OH I agree.....I wouldn't ever try to pass it off as the original.....
I don't know ..... the longer I think about it, maybe it's wrong for me to get a replica? Is that insulting to the original designer? Hmmmmmmmm, why so stressful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's definitely NOT wrong to get a replica. One of my friend did what you are thinking about doing. She saw a dress (don't remember the designer) that she fell in love with. The problem was that the designer's dress was going to cost her about $50,000!!!! She knew better not to burden her husband with this expense so she took matter into her own hands. She found a reliable tailor and had the dress custom made!!!! It was absolutely gorgeous and she spent a lot less!!! She was sooo happy and had a radiant glow on her wedding day!!! I would say go for it!!!

Re: UPDATE: Need honest opinions ASAP~
Wow! What a price difference! The style is exact but I think you can see the difference in the fabrics. The pleats on the original dress look so soft and romantic and on the 'inspiration' the pleats look stiff. It also looks much more shiney, but I think that's bc of the difference in fabric.
IMHO - I prefer the original, BUT, these two dress will not be side by side, so I definitely think you can pull it off.
Nobody will know but us!

I think they look very similar. If you didn't have the original for us to compare the new one against, no one would know the difference. Offend the designer, are you kidding. Who the H E L L cares what they think? Go for what you want. If I could save that much money, I'd go for the replica. GL
