Update on DH's surgery (UPDATED ON SUN)
I wanted to give you an update on my DH's surgery. We got in about an hour and a half ago and had to get to the hospital at 5:45 am so it was a very long day. Thank God, the surgery went well. The surgeon feels that she identified the shoulder problems and that the surgery would alleviate Rob's pain in the long run. For right now though, Rob is in a lot of pain. He's a trooper and doesn't complain but he did say that it is a constant and very bad pain. He was very nauseous in the hospital so I think the anesthesia gave him some trouble. Right now, he just took 2 painkillers and is propped up on the bed, sleeping, poor baby. We are going to the surgeon on Thursday for follow up but as of right now, he has to be in the sling for 6-8 weeks, and she anticipates 4-7 months for a complete recovery. It absolutely just broke my heart in the hospital to see him suffering and helpless but I am optimistic that in a few weeks, he'll start to feel better and experience less pain.
Thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers, and kind FMs - they mean so much to us!
SUNDAY MORNING: Rob is doing as well as can be expected. He is a trooper, he does not complain at all. He is definitely in pain but he is making the most of it. He is bored already so I am sure the next few months at home on disability will not be fun for him but he is upbeat and says the pain could definitely be worse. Thank you, ladies, so much for all of your support!
